Nordstrom customer service has gone downhill! I ordered a very expensive purse through their app. It was supposed to be ready for pickup that same day (3/19/24), so I drove into the store to pick it up. It wasn't ready. The sales associate in the designer purse department wasn't there, so I had to have someone go find her. She then tried to have me re-purchase the purse there and then said she would issue me a refund on a Nordstrom gift card. I told her I didn't want the display purse, and without question, she told me they don't carry the purse in stock, and I would have to take the display. She was clearly trying really hard to make the sale, but I can at least appreciate the hustle.
*Side Note: My friend just so happened to be there at the same time as me to pickup an online order that she put in the day prior, saying it would be ready on 3/19 as well. It wasn't.
I left the store and called the Online Order/Pickup Department to ask if the purse would be the display and to cancel my order if it was. The woman who answered cut me off and told me to call back once the order was ready for pickup.
I received an email today saying my order was ready for pickup. I called the Online Order/Pickup department back to ask them if my purse was the display purse and if so, I would like to cancel my order. I think it was the same woman because she cut me off and was very rude. I gave her my order number and she said she had an order under "Michelle." I gave her the number again, and again, Michelle. She looked me up by my name and couldn't find my order. She put me on hold and said she would transfer me to her coworker, so she could try and help me. She put me on hold and never returned. I sat on hold for 15 minutes before I hung up - really wanting to give her the benefit of the doubt. I don't think she had any intention of returning or having anyone else help me.
I had to email the store manager to get anyone that was competent and willing to help me. I believe the man's name was Tony. He is the ONLY reason I am giving 2 stars. He was very polite, empathetic, and concerned, and what I remember Nordstrom's customer service to be. I know that customer service is what Nordstrom prides themselves on, and what I experienced in the last 24 hours wasn't it. Oh, and to top it all off, Tony told me they had 3 of the bags I ordered in stock. But by the end of it, I just wanted my money back and to support another business.
Advice for Nordstrom Mall of America: Hire more Tonys and get rid of whoever the woman in Online...

I was initially helped by a very rude woman named Esme B. , 2 of my returns were on the same credit card , 1 return was on a different credit card that I since got a replacement card for , I asked Esme If I could put my return with the replacment card on a different card to make sure I get my money back , she said no , so I aked for a manager to approve it . she looked and seemed very upset , so Instead of calling for a manager , she helps the couple behind me . I stood there for over 10 minutes not knowing what was going on . When she was finally done I asked her why she helped the couple behind me Instead of finishing with me and calling for a manager , she would say nothing back to me . More associates came up at this point and they all started talkng in Spanish about me and looking at me very angrily . One of the other associates was named Feven B. I ended up calling the store from my cell phone and asked for a manager to come up to the package pickup area , bc not one of the 3 women associates would call for one šµāš«š¤Æ . Finally a floor supervisor named Mat C. Helped me . I explained everything to him , and instead of helping me , he proceeds to lecture me about credit card fraud and made me feel like I was a criminal trying to pull one over on Esme , Instead of addressing Esmes poor unprofessional behavior. I spend alot of money at Nordstrom and my experience today was appalling to say the least . Mat dropped the ball big time as a supervisor. Esme and the other employees talking about me in Spanish should be written up . It felt very racially targeted , like they dont like Caucasian customers . I am appalled. Iāve never written a bad review before! I was on the market for some new designer shoes at Nordstrom for an upcoming wedding. I found a few pair of shoes that I liked and wanted to try on at the womenās shoe department. I had never purchased a designer shoe from this Nordstrom location before (Iām from out of state) so I was excited to try on the shoes that I had my eyes on.
I looked around and noticed a middle aged caucasian man with dark and gray hair walking around and looking around at other customers. I assumed he was just a customer shopping because he didnāt say anything to me. Mind you, this man made a few glances towards me but never came up to me while I was waiting to see if there was anyone working to help me. A younger caucasian woman walked up while I was still waiting by the couches (right next to the shoes) and she was looking at the same exact shoes as I was wanting to try on. That was when I realized that the man walking around watching the customers was actually a worker at that Nordstrom womens shoe department.
Without hesitation, he walked up to her right away and helped her out. I was so shocked and Iām not trying to make this about race or the way I looked but I was wearing sweats and am a person of color (which I could understand why he was watching the customers and I could see why he probably didnāt want to help me because he thought I wasnāt going to purchase anything).
I never got the name of the man who was working at that Nordstrom womenās department. I understand that he couldāve been tired from working all day or dealing with rude customers, but I wanted to share my horrible experience.
