Since there’s no way to email Ikea:
I am writing to share my deep disappointment and concern after several recent negative experiences at your store. As a long-time customer and someone who has always appreciated IKEA’s family-friendly branding and product line, I was shocked by the stark contrast in the treatment my family received during our most recent visits on June 7, June 27, and July 3.
There were three particularly troubling incidents:
Unprofessional Staff Behavior: On one visit, two employees were loudly complaining about other customers’ children — well within earshot of my own. This was uncomfortable and deeply inappropriate for a family-oriented environment. Overreaction to a Minor Incident: During another visit, my 4-year-old accidentally picked a small piece off a clearance price tag. A staff member reacted by angrily telling my wife that he would now have to redo the entire ticket — treating a harmless, age-appropriate behavior as a serious offense. Hostile Interaction from Floor Staff: In the furniture department, an employee yelled at my child for sitting on a chair in the second row of display furniture. There was no signage to indicate that sitting was not allowed. The tone used was completely unprofessional — there was no “please,” no explanation, and certainly no apology. Another customer present commented on how inappropriate the interaction was. The same staff member had to redirect an adult shortly after, which clearly points to a lack of signage or guidance. These incidents combined to create a deeply unwelcoming and frankly hostile atmosphere for my children. No employee smiled or made any attempt at positive interaction. As a teacher, I fully understand that children can sometimes be challenging — but I still maintain a professional, friendly demeanor and help ensure every child feels respected and safe. That standard was clearly not met during our visits.
To provide some contrast, we visited Gertens Garden Center shortly before one of our IKEA visits. Despite being surrounded by fragile, expensive merchandise, their staff greeted and engaged with our children kindly and respectfully. The difference in atmosphere and customer service was stark and frankly disappointing coming from a brand like IKEA.
I left the store without making any purchases despite having planned to, solely due to the discomfort and hostility we experienced. I urge you to consider providing additional staff training on customer service, particularly in how to interact respectfully with children...
Read moreABSOLUTELY SABOTAGED MY ORDER!! I made an order in the store with a gift card (significant later on) on Dec. 12 and spent $1400. When they delivered my furniture they forgot 5 different pieces of furniture, and also brought me part of a desk that I never ordered. They also were out of stock with 3 of my orders, but I still got charged for them but felt it wasn't necessary to give me a call to let me know this. Trying to get a real person on the phone is a complete nightmare. When I finally got hold of a woman named Balinda, I spent 1 1/2 hours on the phone with her explaining everything that was messed up with my order, she assured I would get my money back from the overstocked items, and created a new delivery date for my missing furniture. That new delivery date came and I received nothing. I had to call back and speak to somebody else, explain myself AGAIN, and was told Balinda never created a case number, never placed a delivery for my furniture and was a complete waste of time. The money that is supposed to be refunded to me is in limbo cause nobody knows where it got sent to. After making my original order, I threw my $0 gift card away. So this other customer service representative created a NEW delivery date for Thursday Dec. 12/27/18 between 10am - 2pm. ONCE AGAIN, NO FURNITURE HAS BEEN DELIVERED. I have not received any money that was guaranteed back to me. So I am currently writing this review while sitting on hold with IKEA. This has been a complete nightmare and nobody knows what's going on with my order on their end. I am so fed up with IKEA and I STRONG ADVISE NOT MAKING ORDERS WITH IKEA. If i could give less than 1 star I would. I am so disappointed with this company and will NEVER order a thing from them again.
I want to be fair and give credit where it’s deserved.. when dealing with all of the phone calls I kept getting help from a woman named Ronda, who works in customer service, who deserves any bit of a good review that is deserved. She was the ONLY person who showed any interest in helping our situation and actually made progress. So Ronda in customer service earns a thumbs up from me, everyone else, needs to be fired immediately and should be brought down with the...
Read moreIt is a unique and fun concept of a store. Sort of a warehouse with displays. So you are able to get a good feel of conceptual space in their mock living arrangements. Being able to open the cupboards and get organizational ideas and an idea of what you realistically could or couldn't fit in their cupboards and cabinets was nice.
I deducted stars because I felt it didn't have a first time visitor inviting feel to it. The entry from the parking structure could have been cleaner and a little more inviting. But it is probably suitable for the warehouse styling of the store. You definitely had to have the time to navigate the store to see what all they offered. I think it could have felt too overwhelming for some people to enjoy. I feel like a map would've been handy to ensure I walked through all departments and areas of the departments in the store. I think it would have assisted me in finding the organizational items and dining ware I wanted. Plus it would've assisted in easily locating a restroom, the checkouts, the restaurant, and the exits. I didn't do the online app. So, I maybe missed out on the best way to navigate the store. So I'll have to make sure my phone is charged for my next visit. If using the app is what inhances the visit, I can see where that would be a take away for some people as well. It would be a fun adventure outing if you're looking for something to do and you are redoing or organizing your home or are into shopping houseware things.
Prices were alright.
I enjoyed a wonderful swedish meatball dinner at their restaurant that included 12 meatballs with sauce over them, mashed potatoes, tender sweet early peas, and cranberry sauce, all for $10. It was nice to have a warm comfort food meal. Their fast food area near the checkouts looked like it had good food as well by the number of people ordering.
It had plenty of parking and easy access to...
