I have been going to Cosmopolitan Nails for close to seven years. I am a pedicure girl - manicures don't really last on me - and my go-to girls there are Queen and Lynn. It is not that I distrust the other technicians, it's just that I love the way these two ladies do my pedicures. They know me and they know my toes!
No other salon in town has given me a better pedicure than Cosmopolitan.
The ladies also do my eyebrow and underarm waxing - I was terrified of doing that and somehow about four years ago they convinced me! This is the best eyebrow waxing in town!
In reading some of the other reviews I do agree with certain aspects like the language barrier, the decor, the demeanor/manners of staff, timely service, etc. To that I try to take the following attitude:
*) tolerance - it is not evident for everybody to learn and master a foreign language *) the technicians do not dictate the decor of the salon, that's the job of the owner (and yes, I have mentioned it before). They renovated/updated the whole place a year ago. *) being serviced in a timely manner can sometimes have hiccups that might be out of the control of the technicians (think customers running late, service is taking longer than anticipated, etc.) *) you are interacting with individuals coming from a complete different culture, and that sometimes can create difficulties. What might come across as rude or poor bedside manners to us, might not even register to them because it is a normal demeanor to them. Still, I do agree that things can always improve.
We are the customers and as such - at least I have found out - we can always voice our complaints, our suggestions, our comments. I have no problem telling the technician if they are hurting me, if I don't want a service - by the way, I have never had any surprises with the charges. They always ask me in advance and tell me the price - etc. Yes, sometimes the cuticle cutting have gone a bit crazy and I have been snipped and have bled; but the technician has immediately apologized and put something to make it better.
The prices are great and, at least in my case, the staff takes the time to provide a great service - and if I ever feel that they are rushing, believe me, I will tell them. I will recommend Cosmopolitan Nails for anybody who wants a great pedicure and waxing - once I start trying shellac I will then be able to say 'yay' or 'nay.' By the way, it took about five years after start going there to convince my husband in getting a pedicure; he kicked and screamed...now, he goes alone on his days off. He will post his own review...
Read moreToday was my third visit to this establishment. The reason it was my third visit in the past 2 months is because I am EXTREMELY happy with the service provided. Before going to them, I had primarily been doing my own nails because I hadn't had results from a nail salon that were that much different from what I could do on my own. Until I went to Cosmo nails. I had resorted to glue on toe nails because my callouses had gotten so out of control that I barely had any nail left on three of my toes. Plus, the fake nails offered some protection as they had become very sensitive as well.
After my first visit, I could see my natural nails again, and I was in MUCH less pain. During my second visit, the owner of the establishment was able to carefully remove what must have been the remainder of an ingrown nail on one of my toes. And my sensitivity was COMPLETELY gone. I was hooked.
The service I get, includes all the bells and whistles. Full acrylic set with gel, nail art, deluxe mani/pedi with salts and paraffin, and an EXCELLENT lymphatic drainage massage on my arms (even if the tech didn't realize that was what she was doing) requires 2 technicians to work on me non-stop for 2+ hours. Considering all of that, the $170 fee was quite reasonable.
The place could use some improvements. It is not very clean, and the decor is "meh." The family who operates it wear whatever they feel comfortable in, so the place doesn't present very well. The language barrier does make communication a bit difficult which makes understanding pricing a challenge. If they address these issues, I'm sure that there would be no more complaints about their prices, because they definitely have the potential to be a 5 star establishment based on...
Read moreI’m not happy. It’s Friday. On Tuesday I paid $95 plus a tip which made it $120 for my nails and toes to just be painted with gel. No pedicure or anything, just polish. It’s been 3 days! This is what my nails look like. I’ve gotten my acrylic nails done here before and actually had them taken off the shape was so awful and the french tip on them as well. I’ve given them a few chances now because I felt bad like maybe I was being too judgy about my nails. But for $120 this is unacceptable. I will be there Tuesday morning to have them fixed. I work a double everyday the rest of the weekend, Monday they’re closed when I’m off so Tuesday it has to be unfortunately. I wish I could get in tomorrow if it wasn’t for work so they can see them sooner but the pictures in my review are enough to see this isn’t okay 3 days later, right? I don’t do any “hard work” either which would possibly explain this. Sorry to leave this review Lyn I believe her name is. I don’t want to hurt your business but this isn’t okay and I don’t want it happening to anyone else for their hard earned money. It’s expensive to live alone and when we chose to spend this kinda money on nails every two weeks it should be...
