Under lead, rude, and completely unprofessional teenage employees at the registers completely destroyed our shopping experience! Between openly criticizing fellow employees with the customer's and being completely and openly rude to other customers waiting in line, we were quite disgusted by the obvious lack of proper customer service training. I personally am a business owner and will say with absolute certainty, if any of my team, ever acted this unprofessional and detrimental to my customers they would be immediately seeking employment elsewhere! So why 2 stars instead of just one, well 2 reasons, 1 when we called with our concerns the assistant manager was extremely apologetic and understanding and 2 they had the groceries we needed. My suggestion for upper management is to read and learn from the book "The Ideal Team Player" by Patrick Lencioni. By the way, we are visiting from out of town. I suspect if this kind of activity continues with the people who live here in Gettysburg, the ownership will be faced with some serious financial difficulties for lack...
Read moreIt's a small family-owned grocery chain right here in south central Pennsylvania. And with that in mind, their fruit and veggie selection isn't going to be as phenomenal as say a larger national chain such as wise and giant that we have here in Gettysburg as well. However, the service and the friendliness in the politeness is unmatched. You do not have the selection as you would in the largest doors regardless of what category you're looking for. But what you do have is very fresh ingredients, of great and house bakery and kitchen with great store made food. I love their fried Chicken. It is so good. If you ever go and you have a hankering for fried chicken you will not be disappointed. So every single time I go, five stars. I don't get harassed by sales people wanting me to buy all of the things. Everyone is super nice and friendly. The aisle ways are clean and clear. It's just a nice, friendly, local supermarket. You know you don't have the selection but you get what you need. And it does okay. I have...
Read moreI shop here sometimes. Usually I have had a good experience shopping here and the food quality is good too. Once as I was waiting to be served at the deli counter I notice a bag of rolls on the shelf that was ALL green moldy. Another time I ordered a pound of American Cheese and the person who cut my order shoved the cheese into the ziplock bag all askew. He did the same thing with the turkey that I bought, but turkey does not break up like American Cheese does. This store also has a strange policy of pre-cutting the cold cuts and displaying them in trays. When someone orders something they just have to scoop it up from the tray and weigh and bag it. I do not like to buy my deli meat and cheese that has been sitting there for two or more days. But other than these deli counter foibles Kennies Markets is a good...
