I came into the store yesterday needing a few items and asked a couple of employees to guide me in the right direction. The first was very nice, but it was clear she couldn't leave her area. It seemed i would find what i needed, but couldn't and there was no on else around. Having been a retail manager in the same mall myself for over a decade, I assumed they're assigned "zones" to watch and will get into trouble if they leave them. After 10 minutes I found my first item. Deciding to give searching a break, I went to the shoe department where all 4 employees were chatting it up to where it almost felt like I was being rude interrupting and asking for assistance. The young man looked up the inventory for it, but it was out of stock, so I told him I would look around. He didn't offer a single option and walked away back to his group of coworkers. Went to check for some socks I needed while pondering leaving altogether and couldn't find them. Found another employee folding and asked her for help with a type of socks I was searching for. She was clearly annoyed and told me if they're in stock, they're by the bikes. I pointed to where I thought they were, she rolled her eyes, saying, "Yeah, back there!" I spent several minutes there and couldn't find them so went back to shoes and decided on another option asking the same young man for help. He didn't remember me or checking on the shoe's inventory 10 minutes before. I told him the sizes he said were available and said I'd like the one because she'll grow into it. I waited for another 5 minutes while he was in the back. He came out and said, "We don't have it." I asked about another shoe, so he checked his handheld and said he'll check. Another 5-10 minutes. He comes out. Not the size I wanted, but was the "grow into." When I went to check out, the cashiers were friendly, but the line was held up with a bit of chatting between them. The service was incredibly awful and almost zero friendliness (which was vastly different the last time I visited). Retail people should be happy to help customers find items, be knowledgeable about their product, and give them a reason to come back; not confused and feel like an inconvenience. Maybe this is why everyone shops online these days? I won't...
Read moreI went in there this evening after work to purchase a treadmill. Even tho there was an employee standing there and we made eye contact I still had to go up to him and ask for help even tho other people were asked if they needed anything without having to approach him. When I told him I was interested in a treadmill and would like to compare the 2 I was interested in he told me he would go find the person who took care of the treadmills. Fine enough. I waited for a short time, the guy finally came up. He said he needed to find the person with the keys. About 10 minutes later, he returned. He turned the 2 treadmills on, then said he needed to find the safety key or whatever so that they would actually work so I could walk on them. He was gone for about 25 minutes.......no where in sight. I waited. I stayed in the area, I didn't leave the area but I was looking for him to see if I could spot where he went. I never saw him again. And no other employee stopped to see if I needed anything even tho I stood there in front of a treadmill for almost half an hour. I decided to leave and walked thru the store just to see if I could see him again to give him the benefit of a doubt and never saw him. I did see plenty of employees tho and none asked if I needed help or needed anything. While walking out I made eye contact with the first guy I approached and nothing from him either.
At that point yes, I could of asked to speak with someone but honestly, I work 7 days a week and this is my one night off where I don't have to work 2 jobs. I wasn't interested in any apologies or excuses at that point. But I will take my business somewhere else and don't plan on going in...
Read moreThis Dick's is atrocious! Literally the worst customer service training and personnel i've ever seen at any store! Purchased many things from there over the years, and always been disappointed in the attitudes of the staff and the complete lack of knowledge, but i'm not one to dwell or even really make a bid deal out of this sort of thing... "i guess it just is what it is these days". So, i'm just a guy that comes in occasionally to get some goods. But this last experience, definitely warrants feed back for sure. I have been out of town for work, so sent the wife to get a treadmill that was on sale, and some baseball gear for my boys. She left appalled at the shear disregard for her experience there. This could be a very long story that i do not have time to tell, but to make is shorter, the kids that work that are rude and don't care one bit about assisting patrons,... this part definitely speaks to lack of management, cuz kids are kids, i have them too. But the rude bearded guy that works there, is a total joke. If he's management, then i totally understand why the kids don't excel. If you want customer service, don't go there. If you want your teenager to have a good learning experience job, don't let them work there. Cuz if the bearded buy is just an employee, then he's a total dumbass, but if he's actually a manager, then he's...
