Tough Times at the Parking Lot
It was a fun night had by all of us until we made the call to the parking attendant. "This call will be recorded," said the automated voice. None of us wanted to be making this call. We'd rather be thinking about the pool game we just lost to some very worthy opponents. We'd rather be thinking about our friend's 30th birthday we were out celebrating. We'd rather be anywhere else than trapped on the wrong side of the arm of this parking garage.
The thing about parking garages is — you either end up on the right side or the wrong side of the arm. And if you park your car at 808 South Olive Street past 11:59 p.m. on any given weekend night (including Fridays), you are on the wrong side of the arm.
Don't believe the false advertising — you are not just going to pay $15 if you park at 808 South Olive Street past 11:59 p.m. on any given weekend night (including Fridays). You may pay $30, you my $45, you may even pay $60. Who knows? There are no rules, only fine print. And the thing about fine print is...you only ever see it when you're on the wrong side of the arm.
Don't make the same mistake we made. If you're going to be out in DTLA past 11:59 p.m. on any given weekend night (including Fridays), make sure they won't charge you $45 or $60 or however much more while you're still on the right side of the arm. Because once you're on the wrong side of the arm, they make the rules. And you have to pay. And there's nothing you can do about it.

Upon arrival, neither the QR from the app, nor the QR from my confirmation email would scan. I called for assistance, only to be connected to the Philippines, just to be told I had to call Spot Hero. Of course, Spot Hero was "closed for the day," leaving me with no recourse. After wasting all this time, I was unable to cancel my online booking because I exceeded the 30 minutes grace period.
