Decided to treat the kids to a candy shop outing. We all enjoyed the variety of candy and goodies BUT....shopping we didn't notice any prices or price signs. Common since tells you it's prices by the lb. We asked a man/employee if all the candy was the same price. He shrugged his shoulders. We approached the casher stand. I watched as the cashier cashed out a patron. Placeing our bags on the counter I asked the casheir how much the candy was? She replyed I don't know I have to weigh it. Then she started to dig thru the bags with the same glove she had been touching money with to cash out the patron before us. I asked her to stop and explain what she was doing. She said the barrel candy is one price, the wall candy, is another and the suckers are another price. She weighted the first bag (1 sucker, 4 small pieces of licorice) 4.85. I asked again what is the price of the candy per pound? She replied I don't know with a slight attitude. I told her to take that bag off. I asked her politly to ask someone else the price per pound. She called a manager over to the register in an extremely dramatic fashion. So loud and dramatic that it cuased everyone in the store to turn and stare. The manager change the price of the bag to 215 and walked off very fast. I asked her why the register read 2.15 even tho we had not weight the other bags we had. She said it was the cost of the sucker, the manager didn't remove it. I said no worries, I'll take it, lets just weigh up the other 6 bags of candy. I asked again what is the price per lb? She just looked at me. I explained to her that before I purchase these 6 bags I would like to know how much a lb. They cost since there were 2 different prices for poundage( she couldn't tell me either), the cashed yelled across the store to ask the manager how much a lb It was. Once again it cuased a scene. Her and another employee snickered right after she was so unprofessional. Finally after she talleyed everything up. I cashed out. She was handing me my bags and said do you want this sucker( as in on the house) the same sucker the manager didn't take of off the first bag weighted. I said I payed for it why would I not want it? She said no I didnt ring it up. I reminded her it was the first thing she rung up and how she got an attitude about it. She said whatever and we left. Our family outing experience at the candy shop was more than disappointing(absolutely unprofesioal, uninformed, no training what so ever, no disire to know the bare basic info of her job) It was awkward/degrading/disrespectful( the casher attempted to paint a picture to the whole store that we bagged a bunch of candy and couldn't afford it even though I made a 50 purchase) for asking the price per pound. This experience was unacceptable. I'm shocked with the ammount of money people spend and the location, you think the owner would employee someone with basic skills. If it wouldn't have severely disapointed my sons I would have left all that half contaminate candy on the counter. I can't believe how condescending the employee was over asking a...
Read moreGreat atmosphere to bring the kiddos. Perhsps the handmade candy and apples would be better than the candy bins at $17.95 a pound. My 9 yr old granddaughter was so excited that once I handed her a bag she reached her hand into the bin before I even saw the gloves or small signs advising to use them. Perhaps adding that gloves message directly to the front of the bins would be beneficial since my granddaughter always reads and follows instructions. She was embarrassed when I freaked out explaining we don’t put bare hands into a bin of candy. Perhaps having a person there to help assist people who’ve never been in such a place would be helpful, but only if they smiled while helping.
The girl behind the register, who wore a Birthday pin looked miserable and when I asked what the bag weighted, because they don’t show you, she just barked its $17.95. I wished her a Happy Birthday and didn’t express my frustration at not being shown the actual weight. I did look for scales around the loose candy so my granddaughter could weigh the bag before heading to the next bin, but of course that was...
