VickyC5 — Local services in New York

I found the ladies of VickyC5 at the weddingwire wedding expo in Manhattan and had them do a free quick makeup trail at the expo. Right then and there I knew these ladies were it! (I was also very surprised something useful came out of this expo!).

This hair and makeup team really is wonderful! They are very responsive via email and were able to work with me and my budget. Additionally, as a package deal, they offered me a hair and makeup trial for free with my purchase (the package came with eye lashes and airbrush for everyone in the party). During the trail, Alice spent over 2 hours on me, trying 4 completely different hair looks and a few different makeup looks. She was very receptive to my comments and ideas and we worked together to find a look that was beautiful! I had my maid of honor with me and she was also very impressed. Not to mention, her application of lashes was very comfortable (she applied individual strands for a more natural look which I appreciated) and the makeup brushes she used were soft and pleasant to the skin. The airbrush also was very thinly applied and looked VERY natural. This was incredibly important to me as I cannot stand the heavy, caked on looked (and neither can my husband). It was important to me that it looked like I wasn't wearing much makeup, just "enhanced" a bit. Upon leaving my trial, she asked me to send pictures of my bridesmaids so that she may see what kind of makeup and hair would look best on them during my big day. She also thoroughly documented everything we did and noted the colors we selected.

On the actual day, the team showed up promptly on time and set up in my hotel room. They alternated between hair and makeup for girls and everyone looked absolutely stunning once they were finished. Also, I should note that my ceremony was outdoors on a hot sunny day in June. I would give a 0 star if I can. Also, I am not talking about the makeup and hair artists here - I am sure they are great, according to all these reviews. But the owners are TERRIBLE.

Tl;dr: My wedding got postponed and they charged extra and increased cost per person without telling me, and now not giving me back my security deposit SO STAY AWAY FROM THIS VENDOR while there are so many better ones in NYC

I will just write the facts shortly.

My wedding got postponed from March 2021 to April 2022 All other vendors made the change without additional charge but VickyC5 did, of $200 And they came back with $40 increase in “Service Charge” and mentioned nothing else I asked what this was, and asked if there is any other charge, just to make sure They came back saying:

“Service charge is 20% of base contract price. We hope this clears things up for you. (Service charge will be fluctuated based on base amount) If it gets lower, would you ask this question? That $100.00 offer will be void and null, because of wedding date changes.(it is clearly written on the contract, it will be $100.00 if the wedding is on Mar 2021) It will be $150.00 per person for H&M, for wedding in April 2022”

What does it mean “would you ask this question?” Can I not ask a question as a customer? Had I not ask this question for $100 offer, they would’ve ripped off another $400 since I have 6 additional bridesmaids and 2 mothers With this rudeness and lie, their apology was not sincere at all. So I decided that I cannot trust these people on the day I am supposed to be the happiest, and canceled the service and asked for refund for security deposit It was non-refundable when I signed the contract, but they first broke the contract by asking $200 extra and $50 extra per person so I am demanding my deposit back

Just stay away from these horrible people...

Thank you to Alice and the VickyC5 team for making me feel the most beautiful I have EVER felt on my wedding day!! From start to finish, Alice was amazing to work with. In addition to being super talented, she is so kind and pleasant to be around! I had a wonderful trial with her a few months before my wedding and knew right away that I wanted to hire her to do my makeup and hair on my special day. Being a makeup lover myself, finding the right makeup artist was essential for me, but as an Asian woman on the east coast, it is not that easy to find an artist who can enhance my features in a flattering way for both real-life and in photography. It’s clear that the VICKYC5 team knows how to do makeup for all kinds of face and eye shapes and I was so impressed with Alice’s work that I hired the team to do my makeup and hair for my bridal shower too :) Since Alice was traveling, Hera did my bridal shower makeup which was also amazing! I will say their prices are on the higher end but you truly get what you pay for and they are worth every penny!!! On my wedding day the team of 3 artists arrived on time and I appreciated Alice’s calm and gentle presence as she and the team worked their magic on me, my 6 bridesmaids, and 2 mothers. They were so efficient and receptive to what each of us wanted so in the end everyone felt and looked beautiful! I’m also so glad that I hired them to stay for a few more hours so that my hairstyle could be changed from an updo for the ceremony to a more flowy look for the reception. They even helped do a makeshift bustle of my dress before reception began. They are just so experienced with weddings and it really shows. I can’t say enough about their professionalism, talent, and attention to detail. I definitely want to use them for future events and will recommend them to everyone
