I fractured my hip in September. My family lives in Arlington, and I recovered there with them so I have a good point of comparison. While the PT I received in Arlington was so amazing that it was the highlight of my week, unfortunately, when the time came that I could walk again and therefore had to return to work in Philly, I had to transfer here. They didn't have an intake for me for about 2+ weeks, which meant that I basically needed to relearn to walk on my own. Once I got there, we started some intense workouts, which was nice, but way way way overworked my injured leg, causing a new problem no one asked for, imbalance! I stopped sessions due to economic concerns but after going to the gym myself and a free trainer session they provided, these new balance issues were now obvious! It makes me really curious now that my PT encouraged me to take on more sessions than I was prescribed, and said I would always need to work extra on this leg, which was not what was told to me by anyone else in my recovery. Sketchy...
Read moreI have been treated twice at Good Shepherd. Once after bi-lateral hip replacement and again after 7 weeks of treatment for an iscemic, bleeding bowel and a pulmonary effusion. Both times I received excellent, caring, tough, but tender, care. When they say intense rehab, they mean it. It is NOT harsh, but thorough and pushes the patient to their limit, not beyond. The facility is SPOTLESS, the nurses and CNAS very empathetic and PROFESSIONAL. The addition of pet therapy was icing on the cake. Riley, their therapy dog, improved each therapy session immensely and made this dog lover ecstatic!
My only complaint was the Nasty, RUDE, security team they contracted. EVERY ONE of my visitors was harassed and given wrong information, even "losing" food they said they would bring up to me. The staff offered to pay to replace it, but I declined their caring offer: it wasn't their fault. I would still highly recommend the facility. They are superb and I would go back in...
Read moreThe policies are not in favor of the patient. I had three areas that needed treatment and so was instructed by GoodShepherd that I would not schedule two separate appts for eval, when I arrived for the first visit they were able to evaluate everything! Fast forward 4wks of 2day/wk with no no-show. Holiday comes and I mix up the days. My mistake. Policy says can't miss 2. I call. SAME DAY. Well guess what, the 2nd eval appt was counted as a no-show even though I already had everything eval'ed and wasn't told I still needed to attend. So they DISCHARGED M IN THE SAME HOUR OF THE APPOINTMENT. They then let me schedule an appointment, then called me 20 min before to say, "WE CAN'T SEE WITH A NEW PRESCRIPTION" Even though the missed appointment was...
