I have had a good experience with speech therapy here in the past. My recent experience was horrible. I was scheduled for an EMG. I was given the name of the doctor in my patient portal. When I arrived I was instead greeted by 2 students and not the doctor who was scheduled to perform the test. They had no idea what they were doing and caused me alot of pain. I know EMGs aren't painless as I've had friends get them done but the bruising and massive swelling I developed the following morning on my right arm was not normal. The arm I went to get tested due to pain and numbness was now swollen and bright purple. I used to have alot of faith in Penn but these last few years most of my doctors at all locations not just lombard have left or just disappeared. The care I get at visits feels like a fast food meal. I'm checked in, I see the Dr for all of five mins and then I'm checked out. My issues are usually not resolved because doctors don't actually take time ask the patient what's wrong but instead quickly scan several years of my charts on file for a few seconds and then make a guess as to what's wrong. It makes me very scared and also very tired of having to make a point at every appointment it seems to ask them to correct information in my chart that was put in incorrectly. The last mistake was actually listing my spinal pain and numbness in my back on the right side when it's actually on the left. This is a big deal to me. The future of medicine and the care that patients receive these days scares the heck out of me. If Penn doesn't have enough doctors then they need to take on less patients and stop pushing us through like cattle or subjecting people to experiment like visits...
Read moreI have been coming to Penn Medicine Rittenhouse since 2014 and up until recently would have given it 5 stars. The last two appointments I had were with a Fellow who did not appear to have the confidence he should have by this point of his career. I’m not saying he was not knowledgeable but to me confidence and being decisive is what gives a patient the feeling of well being & knowing they are in capable hands. I didn’t get that feeling. The 5 star rating was when Dr. C. Plastaras was there and in charge. There was a feeling of professionalism, genuine caring and most importantly superb care with Dr. Plastaras. Now that he is no longer employed by Penn, I don’t think I would be getting the expertise I expect and am used to. When ablations are being done on your C-spine, it better be done with a “ We’ve got this” attitude which I always felt. As an RN I’m very particular with my complicated medical care & not sure about what the care will be like now at Penn Spine Center. I have some some serious thinking to do about my future medical care & where I...
Read moreMy husband was just transferred here from the ICU this past Friday afternoon on high oxygen therapy due to pneumonia Infection complications from lung cancer. Although nursing care is excellent, what they keep harping on here and through their social workers and councilors is when it might be possible to begin Home Hospice care, for the third time in less than three days. This despite my emotional pain at my pending loss of him to which they give lip service. Home help aid would be too limited for my current condition of heart failure to cope with and I wouldn’t be able to attend cardiac rehab due to their inability to guarantee coverage. The should spend their time caring for the patient not trying to get...
