XIII West York St — Local services in Savannah

We’ve been to Savannah several times the past few years and somehow missed this unique gem. We were in town for our elopement and a family member stumbled upon this shop during their stay and highly recommended we visit. So on our way out of town a few days later we stopped by. And man!! It is so very cool! So much to see!! The owner was very nice and engaging. The young lady mentioned in another review w/dark hair and piercings was there. She also followed us around also. Made me feel a slight bit uncomfortable. Like we were going to steal something. Didn’t really like that. We did purchase a book. But after further review we removed the handwritten price sticker on the book only to see the mark-up was 25.99, hand written sticker which is what we paid was $32. That’s a hearty makeup. I genuinely love this store and had first stopped by when I was younger with my Mom on a trip. My first experience was great and I had been waiting to revisit since I loved it so much. However, I revisited on Nov 16th and had a different experience. While walking around the store I was followed by a female associate with black hair and piercings. She made me feel really uncomfortable and just stood in each room watching my partner and I. Wasn’t friendly and made me feel like I was a criminal for absolutely no reason. The man at the desk was actually very nice when we walked in, but that female associate definitely changed how I feel about going to this store. I would recommend to the store that they maybe should have someone in the secluded room at all times if they are worried about thefts, and not someone following their customers in uncomfortable silence. Was checking out local oddities and supply shops to restock on some items. I wanted to split my purchases, Between the three shops in town I found. To support local owned buissness. I have never put items back and left a shop so fast in my life. There was a sign near books to not take photos. Which is respectable and understanding. I took a few photos of herbs labels to send my house sitter to make sure I got what I needed as I didn't have a list of my home supplies. The clerk of the store came and was so rude.
