Unfortunately we had a horrible experience. We went on a busy Sunday afternoon so most of the area restaurants were quite busy. We had a party of 3 and went inside to the hostess station (3 hostesses present) to see how long the wait was. We were told 40 minutes, but if we didn't mind sitting outside, there wouldn't be a wait. It was sunny but chilly, so we put on sweatshirts and sat outside. After 5-10 minutes of no one coming to our table, I went inside to ask what was taking so long. I asked a waiter that was passing by if he knew who had our area. He said no one was assigned the outside tables, but he would get us some help. Another 10 minutes went by, so I went in again, this time to the hostess station with 3 hostesses standing there. I said that no one has come out and that there doesn't seem to be anyone assigned to the outside tables. They said they would get a server for us right away. 10 minutes later and no one still. I went inside a 3rd time and talked to the server I had spoken with first. He was very helpful and apologetic and said he would take care of it. A few minutes later he came out to take our drink orders, saying another server was assigned to our table and would be out soon, but he could get our drinks in. We gave him our specialized coffee orders, and the other server came out. They both complained about already having 6 or 7 tables assigned to them before getting ours, and the first server attempted to give our drink orders to the second server. They use little hand-held computers that require them to type in everything that you order long-hand so it took a very long time. We finally got our complete order to the second server. However, only 2 of our 3 coffees came out, as 1 was lost in the "hand off" procedure between the 2 servers. A while later 2 of our 3 meals came. Both had cold fries, one had cold breakfast potatoes, and the other cold sweet potato fries. The 3rd meal, biscuits and gravy, never came. As we finished the 2 meals that did come, I went back inside (since no one had come out to check on us) to find out why we never got the third meal. I asked for a manager and Shorty came up to ask what the issue was. He was high energy, attentive, and very concerned. I explained everything to him, and he immediately said our meal would be free. We found out that they were out of biscuits so we ordered a different 3rd meal to go. Shorty hustled around like the roadrunner getting our to-go boxes, and our to-go meal. (I understand that Shorty was not the manager, but rather a consultant responsible for making sure things are run properly). Our server saw us inside talking to Shorty and got an attitude immediately, assuming I guess that we were complaining about him. We were not, just explaining how unacceptable the entire experience was. Shorty went out of his way to ensure we were fed, and that there was no cost. The first server actually came up to us again before we left to profusely apologize, even though it wasn't his table and all he did was help. We gave him $20 in cash and said for him to share the tip however he thought was appropriate. The food and drinks were nothing special, and certainly not worth the wait. The coffees were nothing better than a Dunkin or even a McDonalds coffee. This is a fine location, but there seemed to be nothing that made this place stand out or to make us ever consider going back. There are too many restaurant options in this area to potentially put yourself through what we experienced, only to be disappointed in the overly hyped food and drinks. The low rating represents our actual experience. They did the right thing by comping our meal. That made it more. But it would not be accurate to rate the experience based upon the meal ultimately being free. If I knew before hand that the meal would end up being free, I still would have gone somewhere else. We were in town for 4 hours to meet my son and hang out. Nearly 3 of those hours were taken from us in our attempt to get a meal at Toast. We won't...
Read moreto start there were flies everywhere, like it was actually so annoying having to swat them away from your food. then we had to wait 7 minutes to be sat and then once we were sat another 10 minutes to even be acknowledged by a server. they shoved us in the back corner and the hostess looked like she was running around with her head cut off. they then placed a table directly behind us so much so that my father was not able to move his chair back, when the restaurant was EMPTY. i wish i could include pictures. then the server was nice after he didn’t acknowledge us for 10 minutes, didn’t apologize or offer a reasoning but he was nice enough. he was trying to convince us on beignets and he forgot the drinks so we had to remind him what we ordered 4x, i don’t know it was a little frustrating. i wouldn’t fault him though he seemed super nice and was attentive once he got to us, maybe just needed a bit more training. to top it all off we waited 15 minutes for food (these aren’t exaggerations i quite literally timed it as soon as i noticed we were waiting so long for our server) and the table behind us got theirs within 5 minutes after they were seated so far after us. we then watched a table across from us also get their food after we again were seated so much earlier than them? they literally had been there for like 5 minutes?? for the food: someone got a waffle rated it 6.5/10 (can’t really mess up a waffle), the double smash burger 7/10, shrimp po boy 8/10, peach french toast 10/10, brioche french toast 6/10 (pretty sure the hair in it was mine but i also was trying to gaslight myself to not throw up) and the cobb salad a 4/10 and the egg was quite literally black and smelled a little funny…yummy…. this place was very overpriced for the quality of the food. like i could go to dennys and get the same things. the bathrooms were kind of gross there was stuff all on the ground and the hostess was standing near the back door playing on her phone lmao. i just think that maybe with some training the staff can transition from greeting to seating more smoothly, and making sure servers make their guests feel valued. i think the food was just mid i mean would i come here again absolutely not actually ever again, would i recommend also a no, but i guess if you want to try it then… be warned. definitely more for drinks i mean its in the...
Read moreMy short review is good food with mediocre service. For more details, continue reading.
The food overall was good. We had the pig candy, which was delicious. I feel like it would have been better if it had been a thicker cut of bacon. We did try the chicken and waffles based on all the reviews, and it was ok. The waffles itself were plain, and the chicken was a little dry and overcooked. I had a biscuit sandwich, which was also ok. The biscuit was soft but not overly flavourful. The cheese wasn't even melted in my sandwich. The Nutella lattes were really good, and so were the beignets. They were light and fluffy, and the jam they were served with was a nice touch.
Service was less than desirable. Extremely friendly but a lot of areas for improvement. For starters, we ordered the pig candy and beignets to start along with our coffee and some water. The pig candy made its way to the table before we had anything to drink. Not even the water. The lattes finally made it to the table except for one of our regular drip style coffees. I'm not sure why that took longer. When the food came, we were missing an order of chicken and waffles. The server said it should be out in a few minutes. The one order that did come was served without syrup. When we asked for it, the server said they would bring it now and then proceeded to turn around and take the order of the table behind us. I ended up just going to the bar and asking for some. Eventually they did bring syrup (not notcing we had already grabbed some) and that's when the beignets made their way to the table. Keep in mind, we were still waiting for the second plate of the chicken and waffles we ordered. At that time, we told them to forget about it. They apologized and said they would remove it from our bill to compensate. I'm not sure how compensation for poor service is not charging me for something I never received. Keep in mind, the water still never made it to the table. We ended up asking someone else to bring it. A little while later, they showed up with the missing chicken and waffles, which we turned away. We didn't ask for a store manager or anything because the server was nice, but I think they were not trained properly, or the job just didn't come...
