I remember the first time i ever visited fulcrum. The moment I stepped in, I was captivated by the clean, spacious atmosphere and modern decor. It's a breath of fresh air compared to other coffee shops in the area. Fast forward a year or two later, and I still get that vibe.
Their menu is impressive, offering a unique selection of delicious food and drinks at reasonable prices. Even the service is always spot on. I always find myself admiring their all around polish.. if that even makes sense to anyone, but me. I'm truly impressed by everything this place has to offer."
For example. My sandwich. Not just a regular turkey sandwich they pull from a package and then toast or heat up. They make it fresh to order. All of the ingredients were balanced, from the flavors to the portions. Also they don't just use boring old ingredients. They use the good stuff. The foccacia bread had rosemary seasonings on it. The rosemary was not over powering, while chewing I kept tasting pleasant hints of the rosemary. And one more thing. The bread wasn't overly toasted. I lied theres more. They put basil on it and then made a tomato pesto spread and gave me extra on the side. Wait not basil pesto and slices of tomatoes, we have tomato pesto and slices of Basil leaves. They hit the reverse card on this sandwich.
And that's just their turkey sandwich. They also offer breakfast and various baked goods. I haven't said much about the coffee because I'm sure many reviews have mentions of this. And I don't drink coffee any more.... we'll, when the seasons change....
Read moreI had a great Myanmar cortado. Very nice representation, and very bright and smooth taste. Guatemalan pour overs were OK. Lacking brightness and distinction. Again, nice representation though. But, for the price of nearly half of the same bag of beans, I was expecting better taste. The beans’ price though bespeaks of being on a cheaper side, thus not setting up very high expectations to begin with.
Oh, for the owner of the shop - I would kindly ask you to have a pour over menu. You have 4 pour over options, but none of them are on the menu. So I have to ask the person at the counter, and then she would list to me all the 4 options, having to walk back and worth to see the bags of coffee served to get information about the origin, process, and tasting notes. It’s very inconvenient, and takes unnecessary time at the counter to decide what bean to go with. If you only had a menu with all the options available, and description of every bean, that would make both your and your customers’ life so much easier, and overall experience so much better. I kind of regretted I didn’t opt for another option just because I had to be busy with remembering the options and getting confused. Please just print out a pour over menu!
Would primarily go here for an espresso drink next time as it was...
Read moreI keep coming back to Fulcrum as one of my go-to local coffee shops. The reasons I keep going back is 50% the coffee and 50% the baristas.
I really suggest asking the baristas about their current favorite drinks since it gives you insight into what is really good drink at that time, and it provides some interesting combinations or slightly off menu suggestions. I have never been disappointed in their suggestions and, in fact, some have become my personal favorites. I also love their bean recommendations (they have a wide selection of whole beans.)
The staff at Fulcrum are always friendly and more than willing to have a conversation around your coffee-related questions.
Fulcrum has great, unique seasonal drinks (I always try them at least once) that are different than any specialty drink you'll find around (and at a higher quality than Starbucks). Give them a try if you are looking to switch it up from your usual latte.
This is one of my favorite coffee shops to sit in due to the nice interior, available power ports, music, natural light, and general relaxed atmosphere. You'll probably end up paying upwards of $4, but that's the around the average price in Seattle (and since the baristas are wonderful, please...
