Let me start by saying the place is cute, and by cute I mean small, and it is a fun activity! We did have fun here. Yes, we had to come back a second time because the place was full, but that wasn't a big deal. They only have around 4 tables to work at. Once we made reservations for later, and came back, there was room.
So why the 3 star review? A few reasons. First, my daughter's candle was taken by another customer! You have to leave your candles to be finished by the owner after you design them. When you're away, anything can happen, including your losing what you made. I don't know if it was stolen or an honest mistake, but I tend to think it's the former since each candle is unique and you know what colors you used. So that was very disappointing after an hour or more of work, and you have nothing to show for it at the end of the day. I think the owner should do a better job of labeling each family's work.
Second, the owner is there by himself and is overrun. He needs an assistant. He cannot help all the people at once and people are left helpless for a time.
Third, the colors are very limited if you go towards the afternoon and later because the colors get used up, and the owner being so busy with the customers with no help, has no time to make more colors. So your color options get less and less the later you go.
Overall, it is a fun activity for adults and kids alike, but learn the lessons from me, and hopefully you will leave with the...
Read moreThis was by far the best activity that we did in Lake George with 2 young children.
The owner is wonderful, patient and with a welcoming dry sense of humour. You select any candle mould, from approx $8 + and then proceed to break up slabs of candle wax - available in over 40 colours - which led to much indecision on our family's part but we were gently reassured to "keep going back and selecting as many times as you like" by the owner.
The process is that place the wax pieces into the mould you have selected. The breaking up wax was a little challenging for my youngest - but no worries - there are also tubs of pre-broken up wax pieces - in all of the colours available.
After this, we could select a scent for our candles - from cranberry, orange, cinnamon wintery scents we preferred - as well as some tongue-in-cheek hilariously named scents.
The last step is that it takes 30mins for the candle to be set. We looked at the beautiful art displayed in the studio and some adjacent stores.
We took about an hour creating our candles - and felt very comfortable and welcome to linger longer. The bill was the total sum of the the 2 candles we chose, very reasonable.
Just a lovely afternoon activity on a winter’s day in Lake George. Truly delighted with...
Read moreLake George what a awesome place all year around. My family really enjoy coming to Lake George and this year we brought some friends along with us. My wife told our friends about this awesome wax candle making place and how much fun it was when we went last year. However this year was not so awesome at all. The two very young ladies were super rude to us from the moment we walked in the door. Being very passive tord us. We highly recommended this place to all of our friends and family but because of the way we were treated we will no longer support this local business. Which is sad to say because we believe is supporting out local business. The 2 young ladies that worked Saturday Feb 5th 2022 has ruined that fun experience for us and the place will loose our support from now on. We will not recommend this...
