I've seen this place in the union food court for years and every time I see them they were closed. Today April 20th 2023 is the first time I've eaten from here. I got the jerk chk sandwich....the only thing I want u to get from this review is to....drop what u are doing...if u have a laptop in your hands drop it and head to this place. If you are reading this review u can stop now....put your phine in your pocket n go here right away. You don't need to know anything else. You MUST eat their jerk chicken sandwich or in a dinner doesn't matter. I am going back tomorrow to try their jerk pork. I am going to add a pic of the jerk chk sandwich...but it doesn't do it justice. This is meant to be eaten not looked at.
I love the food here some of the best in the city. But I have been here recently, summer of 2023. And now every time I go here I feel like I am inconveniencing the staff with my business. The service has taken a turn for the worse. Especially, there is one employee who has a toothpick in his mouth when talking with customers. This is so unappealing and unprofessional. This is a deterrent for me and others I know from patronizing the store as much as we would like to. Otherwise I would be...
Read moreI came here today for the first time. Service : I was served by a lovely young lady she was very nice. Wasn't super fast, but I did wait to get a fresh batch of rice and peas because they were running low. Food: Was decently good, I never order Jamaican food from outside because no one does it better then my grandma ( she isn't even Jamaican ). They have jerk; pork, chicken, wings, sandwiches, oxtail, fried chicken, curry goat, curry chicken plus more. My order : I ordered a small jerk pork, and boy was it spicy !!!. It was hard for me to distinguish the flavor because it sooo spicy. But the taste was similar to Mr jerk back in the day ( Mr jerk haz changed). It wasnt terrible but it wasn't the best thing ever. I will be back to try other things. Overall; the jerk pork was too spicy, but decent I couldn't finish it. The colslaw has no flavor , but it did make me want to try the oxtail because oxtail isn't spicy. The price : a small order which is small but filling ranges from 8-10 and a larhe5 rAnges from 13-16 dollars. I have attached some photos.
I also didn't like that they put the coleslaw on top...
Read moreI've been to the original Roywoods and the one at Union many times and it is unfortunately different. Different in a way that the food is either made differently but something about it is not the same. This review is for the one at Union and I must say everytime I go it just feels different. The food isn't bad nor is the service. A lot of the negative I read is about the service but I don't find them to be bad at all. The portion is very generous - heck sometimes it's loaded that the container don't want to close. That's really good. And the food doesn't taste that bad either. Just different from there other location however I must say it is SPICY.
I hear that it is the same cook as Allwyn's Bakery but Roywoods is definitely a lot spicer. I'm not judging the spicy as everyone's tolerance is different. What I'm saying is there don't seem to be a consistency everytime I go. Nonetheless I still recommend the food, the service but because the lack of consistency I give it an average three star. As my other review for the original location was a...
