This place had great reviews, and I felt like a good steak so I called and then walked over. It is close to my hotel, and it's a shame about the service, because I would have gone back if it hadn't been so dismal. They found me a table even tho I was late for my reservation (Google Maps does not do well when you're walking, I've found!). Service was slow and I never did find out who my server was. Various people visited the table but no one took responsibility for me. I guess a single guest doesn't generate much enthusiasm because they know my bill won't be very big. I had to flag someone down just to order. He seemed to be the manager and was friendly but he got my order wrong, and they brought me the steak tartare instead of the carpacio that I ordered. When I pointed out the error to the guy who delivered the food, and waited another 15 min nutes for the correct dish to be brought, I was NOT visited by the nice man again, so no apology, no "I'm so sorry, we'll get that fixed for you right away." He knew what had happened because we spoke briefly on my way out when I complimented him on the food, and nothing else. I asked him what had happened with my order, that I had gotten the wrong food, and he basically said it was my fault, that I HAD actually ordered the tartare. I'm pretty sure that wasn't the case: I don't like tartare and wouldn't have ordered it, but anything's possible. But that's not how you treat someone in a nice restaurant. The customer is always right in a nice restaurant. so the manager (or whoever he was) should have taken responsibility for the error, apologized for it at the time, and left me feeling like, hey! Mistakes happen but we'll correct it asap. We're at in this together.
Every time I needed something I had to flag some one down. I had a bottle of sparkling water that they poured from once, put on a remote table and never checked on again. I understand they don't want bottles on the table (remember! This is a nice restaurant!) but...was I supposed to get up and get it myself? I thought about it! Definitely not the service I expect in a nice restaurant. The food was great; no complaints there. I ordered a cocktail (the Mai Tai, which was excellent) and a glass of sparkling wine, plus my meat and a side: it was a full meal for one person and I did not deserve the service I got. If this how they treat single diners they're going to miss out on a growing demographic, ie , single female travelers. I guess they don't care. Too bad. If you're a single diners, I'd give this...
Read moreWe went to this restaurant with my girlfriend for our last day in Prague because I wanted to eat good meat without minding the cost. Alas ! We won't come back again because we had an awkward and very anti-climatic time there. As a sanction, I put only 1 star to balance with all the 5 star comments.
Overall, the meat was okay. But I have traveled in the US and in most western Europe countries: for 50 € a steak (roughly twice the price of a good steak anywhere else) you would expect it to be above average or exceptional. That was not the case there. I've tasted better steak at my local steakhouse.
Furthermore, I find it a bit sad that the place only serves American steak. What's the point of making meat travel around half the globe when you can get excellent beef races nearby in Europe ?
The T-bone steak was advertised 500 grams. It was certainly smaller than that because I usually cannot eat that much meat. The waitress was very reluctant when we asked for medium well/ well done meat, although we like it that way. After much insisting, she took the order but made fun of us with a small and ridiculous smirk.
Very few wines were proposed by the glass on the card. It was either the full bottle or nothing. Wine by the glass was served in too small quantity, inside an enormous glass which felt weird.
The steak was served in a plate without any kind of arrangement. Was there any sauce to eat with the meat ? We weren't proposed any.. French fries were okay but not the best I've had either.
As for the atmosphere, the decoration and service tries to imitate as if you were sitting in some Grand Palace or high end restaurant, which really lacks personality. Are you serving steak or 3 star dishes ? I didn't know I had to suit-up for sub 100€ basic dishes..
Finally, the tables were too large. As a result, we couldn't hear each others without nearly shouting. The room was very noisy (I could barely hear the waitress). This lacqued intimacy and we gave up on talking much during dinner. We were mostly thinking about escaping ASAP and having dessert in a cozier place..
TLDR: this place is overrated for the price and the atmosphere and service are in a huge mismatch with what it is...
Read moreI booked a place in advance for my boyfriend and mine's birthday celebrations. We ordered at 7:30 p.m., and were about ten minutes early. The place was relatively empty and we were put in immediately. It is important to note that by 20:00 the place was already full. You can see straight away that this is an upscale restaurant. The waitress approached and brought us menus and a wine menu. We first ordered carpaccio, which was excellent! It came in an exact square shape with a truffle sauce on top, for the main we shared a porterhouse steak for both of us and added chips and mashed potatoes. We ate the steak medium. The steak was the most delicious I have ever eaten, savoury and soft and the highlight is the sauces on the side, listen well, the truffle butter on the side is the best thing you can make for yourself. Spread truffle butter on the steak or. Finally they brought us dessert at the expense of the house !!! With a candle !! It was really above and beyond. Service at the highest level I could think of. Everything is accurate everything in place and most importantly everything is insanely delicious. The place is not cheap, but worth it! Thanks for everything. You...
