AVOID at all cost!
We have put a lot of effort into finding a decent, yet traditional looking restaurant in the city center. This was probably the WORST one we could have chosen. It was our mistake too, because we ignored the ominous signs.
They have a small variety both meal and drinkwise. When we tried to order, they didn't have neither of our selected beer (and they only had two types by default!), nor the selected meal. We should have left right there. We eventually ordered, but then noticed the inconvenience of the couple sitting right next to us, after their bill arrived.
The meals were decent in size, but dreadfully poor in quality. Then the prices were based on weight and were listed per 100 gramms. Yet you don't get to know the exact weight of your meal directly, you only find it out after the waiter (who was by the way completely careless, almost unfriendly during the whole time) brings you your handwritten cheque on a piece of disposable paper. Also, you don't get any proof that you are really paying for what you have actually got.
We had a(n awful) pair of sausages and paid twice the amount of the listed price, we also ate 4 pieces of miniature sized sliced bread, and paid 40 czk for it, although the menu said "bread 5czk" so we probably got charged for the whole basket (that's actually not a surprise though). Furthermore, we also obviously got charged for the 10% service fee.
All in all, this place is a typical freud, a scandalous cradle of filth with the sole reason of ripping toursts off. There are numerous pitfalls like this in every tourist destination, and we happend to fall in one, right in downtown Prague. DO a favour for yourself, and...
Read moreA real, unvarnished "hospoda" experience. We popped in for a much-needed break and found ourselves in a Czech pub, the kind where you leave the tourist trail at the door. A key thing to note right away: cash only. Make sure you have some Czech koruny on you, because plastic won't get you a drop of beer here. We grabbed two poured Pilsner Urquell beers and settled into a corner. It was quiet, thankfully not packed, and just a genuinely pleasant spot to chill out. The atmosphere is authentically humble, a bit of a 'hole in the wall' some might say, but others will appreciate the genuine feel. Don't expect fancyâit's unassuming, and that's its charm. They had two TVs running American Football for some reasonâa weird touch for a traditional spot, but easy enough to ignore. What we liked more were the frescoes and old pictures on the walls; they gave the place some real character. The bathrooms were tiny and pretty untidy, which definitely pulls the rating down, but the friendly, welcoming staff balanced that out. No issues with service at all. Overall, it was a perfectly fine place to sit and enjoy some good Czech beer. Come here for an authentic, no-frills drink, but manage your expectationsâit's all about the beer and the...

Do not complain about this. It is written outside before you go in and it written on the wall under the menu.
Didn't have any food at this location, but the small menu sounded delicious.
We discovered this wonderful little pub around the corner from the Astronomical Clock. With the best looking price per beer (Pivo), we decided to pop in and give it a try. Other reviews will tell you the staff are rude and service is very unfriendly. IGNORE THEM! This place is simple. Go in (if there is space) and sit down. A staff member will ask you "Beer?" You say "Yes please" and confirm how many you want. Staff will place a beermat in front of each person. They will return with your beers, plonk them in front of you along with a slip of paper where they will tally up your total amount of drinks. They will then walk away and not return until your glasses are looking empty and they will offer you more. When you're done they will take payment.
Don't expect over the top customer service. They are busy. This is normal for most of Europe.
Please don't leave bad reviews because they didn't "make your...
