To reach this café is to reenact Dante’s itinerary: before ascending to paradise, one must first descend. The entrance ritual here begins with a queue, a slow procession of bewildered souls, each uncertain of the rules. For twenty minutes we waited — no greeting, no guidance, only the silence of those who have renounced hope.
But beyond that bureaucratic purgatory, a celestial reward awaits. The counter gleams like a marble altar, where pastries are not sold but exhibited, as if the pâtissier were less a baker than a curator. Rows of domes, spirals, and mirrored glazes rest under glass with the composure of relics. To disturb one feels almost irreverent.
The chocolate creation before me — a perfect monolith crowned with a velvet dome and a speck of gold — seemed less food than architecture. Another plate arrived bearing a tower of salmon and herbs, drizzled in yellow lines like a modernist sketch. Each dish seemed to contain its own geometry, its own quiet logic.
The service remains a mystery, but the food is revelation. One forgives the indifference of the gatekeepers because the first bite abolishes time, complaint, and fatigue. Perhaps, after all, that is their method: to make paradise...
Read moreI don't know where to start.... everything was great from top to bottom!!!!!!!!
Great atmosphere, great location, more then enough room, nice looking interior and exterior.... but now for the important parts.
Service was excellent with attentive, kind, witty staff. You have a pletera of food choices ranging from breakfast to a 3 course menu. The main dishes were innovative, refined and a true delight to the tastebuds.
Plenty of drinks are available but I would recommend the coffee above anything else. Brewed to perfection!!!! Coffee doesn't get more delicately balanced then that !!!!
As for the highlight of the whole menu and also the namesake of this beautifull place on earth, the desserts/pasteries !!!!
Plenty of choices to choose with some of the choices like the paris-brest being an absolute delicacy. Never have a taste a pasterie so delicate, refined and balanced between soft/creamy and crunchy. The pistachio's been such a key component yet being simultaneously so subtle just blew my mind. Best I have ever eaten by far !!!! But be warned, every other desserts I have had since seem dull in comparison!!!
A must visit at the heart of Prague...
Read moreFound this place by accident while looking for a place for a late lunch. located in the quiet of Prague's Old Town. The service was very nice, also in English. Chicken breast with zucchini noodles and tomato sauce, perfectly prepared, juicy meat. The only drawback for me was that the skin was not crispy, it was just stretchy, but these are my subjective taste preferences. For me, the pasta lacked spiciness, but after adding some pepper it was much better. A very interesting addition to the pasta were pickled tomatoes, which added a twist to this dish. The tomato sauce was perfectly creamy, smooth and well seasoned. You can smell the tomatoes. The second course was beef tartare, which was very well seasoned, but the included bread chips, apart from having an interesting texture, did not really match the taste. The third and last course was beef ribs with mashed potatoes. the meat was soft and juicy. Pure fluffy and tasty. Homenade lemonade was very, very sour, the acidity killed the taste of the drink. Overall, a place worth recommending, because the ingredients seem fresh and the dishes are...
