We stayed in a holiday flat just around the corner from Hell Smoke and walked past it every day on the way to the tram, that's how we found out about it. When searching for restaurants in our vicinity, this place didn't come up at all, which I find very suspicious as they've been open for three years.
After searching for it specifically and reading reviews and looking at pictures online, I knew we had to try it, and we were not disappointed at all. We had beef brisket, pulled beef and fries with chili as main courses, and they were all fabulous! I had the brisket, didn't need a knife because the meat was so tender, and didn't use the bbq sauce that I'd ordered, because the meat was so delicious in its own, I didn't want to change it.
I also had the bbg baked beans which I loved, and the Cole slaw, which was delicious in its own right although not exactly what a New Yorker like me expects when ordering cole slaw (I think this was better quality than what you'd get in the States, just not exactly the same thing).
The beer selection is outstanding, I can't remember the name of the brewery but it's a craft product highest quality, with maybe seven varieties to choose from. I had the "Silver Snail" and ordered a second one, which I didn't ordinarily do.
The only critical point I feel I need to make, in case the staff read this, is that they could be a little more attentive of the guests who have been sitting a while. We had finished dinner and were ready for dessert and that second beer, but I had to go up to the bar to remind them that we were there. And then they were extremely friendly and the stuff came quickly. But while we were waiting, we could see a few of them chatting with each other and other guests. It is a very casual, relaxed atmosphere, which is a positive, but staff can perhaps be a little too casual.
Oh, the "burnt cheesecake" with plum jam was...

Menu available in Czech and English, and staff speaks both also really well.
Fantastic place, super friendly and enthusiastisc staff, mind-blowing food and cocktails, amazing craft beer. Recommendations of the staff were spot-on! The woman serving us said their weekly special was "f*cking amazing" and she was right! They even have gluten-free beer!
I had - and I'm not exaggerating and have eaten in a lot of places around the world - the BEST bacon, kimchi, cheesecake, and cocktail in my entire life here. The bacon was crispy without being crumbly, and not overly salted. You really could taste the quality meat used here. The cocktail, a house creation, the "Hell Mary" is made with homemade Kimchi juice and is served with bacon (see photo). And the kimchi is homemade too, vegan, without fish sauce and so INCREDIBLY well-balanced that I immediately loved it. The cheesecake is served basque burned with a smoked plum puree. It is TO DIE FOR. Soft, caramel-y and refreshing. TRY IT. Apart from those over-the-top highlights, my platter (which you can combine yourself) was fantastic, and thr whole restaurant smells warmly of smoke.

Read moreClean and cool bbq-place in a good location. Very friendly staff, in this restaurant i felt the most welcome as a tourist during my week in Prague.
Good and friendly service, very tasty IPA beers too (not that easy find in the centrum)!
Everything on the menu sounded good. I took a hot dog with xtra chili, fries (not included) and a chipotle mayo. The hot dog was a top3 doggie i've eaten in my 35 years of life. My friends had brisket- and pastrami burgers, they really liked those too, and are not beginners when it comes to burgers. Mayo was very good too. Fries were okay, not bad but can't give 5 stars (even though i want to) to the food due to the fries been "only" good-. But it was really difficult to find tasty fries in Prague overall. Went to a fancier steak restaurant on another day, paid 100 krones extra for those, and Hell Smoke had better fires than the...
