I recently had the misfortune of dining at this restaurant, having just visited Prague on holiday. I rarely write reviews, but I thought this garnered enough of my negative emotions that I felt honour bound to prevent others suffering a similar fate.
I’ll caveat the whole review with a TLDR: if you have kids - don’t go - the end!
Let's start with the food, the mixed grill, which I strongly suspect consisted of the previous customers’ children (more on that later). The presentation of every dish resembled a flashback to 1990s UK school dinners: food drowning in gravy, devoid of any creativity or finesse. Some might say it’s traditional home made, I might say, was your house located on one of the circles of gravy based hell?
The beer was good, which is going to go someway towards making up for a dire remainder of the review.
But the disappointment continued, alas dear reader, this is the evening filled with the sirens call of discontent. The "service" should be rebranded as "disservice," as the staff managed to tarnish the reputation of Prague's otherwise hospitable citizens. Their audacity to scold our playful 2-year-old, in a near-empty restaurant, was beyond even my surprise. Perhaps they should consider why their establishment lacks clientele instead of blaming innocent children for being children.
Adding insult to injury, the absence of children's changing facilities left us with no choice but to change a nappy atop a tiny toilet cubicle, with a dangling spider as our only company. This was hardly my idea of a pleasant evening out.
The one positive, we met a charming Ukrainian family with a small child as well, so unexpected points for atmosphere, but this was mostly fluke than anything else. I can only hope Kyiv returns to normality so I can sample more of this friendly Ukrainian culture!
In conclusion, if it were possible to award negative stars, this establishment would be a starless sky in a vacuum devoid of both life and light, never mind taste. Save yourself the misery and steer clear of...
Read moreCame across this place by pure accident just wandering around the streets of Prague, and we needed a drink, and there was not a lot around or open. A lot, and I mean a lot of places, do not like it. Some don't allow it for you to only have drinks they want you to buy food ,great if you're hungry . It didn't look overly busy from the out side and we wasn't sure if it was a cafe , pub or restaurant, what a surprise it was walking in a beautiful place with open beams and a warm vineyard feel . The staff were the friendliest we had meet said no problem just for drinks , they were very attentive and checked for more and remembered the order . We saw the food coming out, and it looked really good, and you could tell a lot of the people were locals . We were so impressed with the friendly service and the look of the food we came back that evening for dinner .It wasn't close to where we were staying, so we got a taxi there. Again, amazing service ,attentive giving recommendations for food options as spoilt for choice, and the food was proper home cooked . We tried the chicken schnitzel, stunning the traditional dumplings, among others .Again, they remembered out drinks from earlier, and they were always checking on if we needed anything. Absolutely our favourite place we ate at in Prague and gutted we found it on our last day as it's somewhere we would...
Read moreHad dinner here together with my girlfriend who never ate ‘Traditional Czech dishes’ yet. This is not the place you should go to to have that. Although the food looked good and it was delivered to our table fast, it was so fast that it couldn’t have been cooked. It was definitely cooked a few days ago and microwaved on the spot. All of the meat that we had in our dishes (Chicken Shnitzel and BBQ Pig Ribs). The waitress tried to upsell us from the minute we walked in and asked if there were glutenfree options available, only recommending us the expensive options and not taking a literal ‘no’ for an answer when we told her we weren’t interested in wine. As we were eating out feed the waitress was walking past our table about twice a minute looking at us. Instead of asking if we wanted another drink or if the meals were nice, she asked us if we were finished. This waitress was the opposite of hospitable.
Prices were reasonable if you are looking at a touristic spot to eat dinner. But I would recommend walking about 3 to 4 streets in any direction and you’ll have better food, for normal prices and cooked in a way more...
