Unfortunately, a disappointing experience. We ordered two main courses (Goulash and Duck confit) and some local specialty- grilled smoked cheese. While sitting there waiting for our food we saw other tables got served (one of them with 4 people who came after us). After sitting there for like 45 minutes we were served cheese. We asked the waitress when we can expect the main courses, and she said that they always serve starters before the main course (the cheese wasn’t on the starters list, but any way it took them 45 mins to serve it), and that the main courses are almost ready (“just 5 more minutes”). After 10 more minutes we finally got the food. Duck was good and the Goulash wasn’t (the beef was not tender in any way, and was really hard to chew). I’m pretty much sure that there was some problem and maybe they had to re-do the dish, but as a customer I expect to be at least notified that there would be a delay in stead of just waiting for something and receiving fried cheese after 45 minutes. Not sure if it’s a rare single case (coz reviews are mainly positive), but the way the crew managed this situation was awful (and the waiting time as well). The pricing is good btw.
P.S. another waiter was also putting the knife and fork directly on the table (without any napkin), which makes you question their...
Read moreThe restaurant is not big, with only a few tables. It is located inside the hotel, and the hotel has 2 restaurants. The restaurant outside is very conspicuous, but it is just an ordinary restaurant. When we went there, there was a Korean sitting in the restaurant outside and taking pictures I took it for a long time, but after asking the waiter, I found out it was not the case. The waiter led us into the real restaurant. Although we did not make a reservation, the table was cleared after only a short wait. There was also welcome champagne while we waited, which was very considerate.
Following the French custom, we ordered appetizers and soups, and of course the main course. But this portion is definitely the standard for German cuisine. It’s too filling. If you don’t have a huge appetite, my suggestion is to order one main dish per person. Goulash is an absolute must-order dish. 7 kinds of meat are stewed together, and there are prunes in it. The gravy is rich but not greasy, and it has a bit of a sweet and sour taste, which is particularly good. We can only understand that there are big deer, small deer, wild boar, sheep and other meats, but we don’t know about other meats.
The price is also very cheap, a main course only costs 300 Czech dollars, about 12 euros, and a 10% service charge will be...
Read moreWe recently had the pleasure of dining at the Czech Slovak restaurant in Prague, and it was a fantastic experience for our family of four. What stood out was how the restaurant takes the essence of Czech and Slovak cuisine and gives it an authentic yet modern twist.
While the menu features familiar favorites, they're expertly cooked and presented with a contemporary flair. Every plate that arrived at our table was a work of art, a feast for the eyes as well as the palate.
The home-brewed beers are a definite highlight. They're not your standard lagers but a selection of unique, handcrafted brews that are a testament to the region's rich brewing culture. They're the perfect accompaniment to the modern dishes, proving that some traditions are best left untouched.
Beyond the incredible food and drink, the service was top-notch. The staff were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, making us feel incredibly welcome. They were happy to offer recommendations and made sure we had a great time throughout our meal.
For anyone visiting the center of Prague looking for a dining experience that honors Czech culinary roots while embracing a modern sensibility, we can't recommend this restaurant enough. It was a perfect holiday stop for our family and a place we'd...
