As a meat lover, I was drawn to MeatEater Steak & Wine primarily because of its name and the excellent reviews. I decided to visit the restaurant on Saturday, January 4, 2025.
When we arrived, the place wasn’t very busy, and that didn’t change during our time there.
Looking at the menu, I noticed that most of the cuts were quite expensive, which wasn’t necessarily an issue. However, it wasn’t easy to decide what to order. Ultimately, I went with the most expensive dish on the menu: the Surf and Turf – Wagyu beef with lobster.
Before cooking, the waitress brought the meat to the table for us to inspect. I didn’t think much of it and gave my approval. However, when the dish was served, I immediately realized that the beef on my plate was not Wagyu. I raised my concerns with the waitress and requested to speak with the chef.
The chef came over quickly, took the plate away without much explanation, and said he would prepare a new dish for me. Since the Surf and Turf is specifically made with Wagyu, I couldn’t help but feel like there was an attempt to deceive me.
They eventually brought out the Wagyu beef for me to inspect again, but it didn’t look particularly impressive and didn’t taste as I had expected either.
As for the sides, they are all ordered separately. Because of the earlier issue, I was given an extra side dish as compensation.
Despite the mishap and my disappointment, I was still charged for the main dish on the bill, which totaled a staggering 5,567.70 Kč. For such a premium-priced establishment, this left me feeling even more dissatisfied.
The experience fell far short of expectations, leaving me with a bad impression and a feeling of skepticism about the restaurant’s integrity. It’s not an experience I would recommend to others, and I won’t be returning.
Edit (Reply to Owner's Response): Accusing me of wanting a free dish is ridiculous. I simply wanted to enjoy my meal with my company, but instead, I ended up eating my €150 plate alone. What a disappointing experience. Instead of addressing the issue, you resort to blaming customers. Honestly, if you keep scvmming people like this, your restaurant won’t last long, no amount of fake reviews...
Read moreThe experience wasn’t only good or amazing. It was straight phenomenal, unbelievable, fantastic and amazing. First the highly skilled waiters who know the whole menu not only by heart, but they know every single Ingredient in every dish they serve. After the amazing introduction we ordered the food. Now I love to eat. My rule of thumb is, when the food is good I am satisfied. So technically I shouldn’t be satisfied from this food, because this food, this food was on an other level of good, it was beyond delicious. The starters were an explosion of tastes. Exactly thought through for every last taste bud. Then the Meat, THE MEAT. so tender, juicy and above all so unbelievably delicious.( the only thing, that could go into the slightly negative way, is that the filet mignon medium well was deliciously flavoured but a little dry.) I highly respect and agree with their policy ” Supreme meat deserves to be handled with supreme tools”. My mind was absolutely blown, when they gave every guest a Damascus knife. I know how expensive and highly qualitative these knives are. And oh my the meat was supreme. It was like an orchestra of tastes all playing together wonderfully to create the best taste you will ever taste. Now last but definitely not least, THE DESSERT. This was with absolutely no doubt THE BEST dessert I’ve ever eaten. It was like something straight out of a baking TV show. Not too sweet and well balanced, even the dessert was a culinary wonder.
For the overall experience and atmosphere: The atmosphere was pleasant. I immediately felt like an celebrity eating at a michellin star restaurant somewhere in Las Vegas. For the wines I personally couldn’t experience them, but the rest of my companions said only good things. I had an orange drink though, and it was to no surprise delicious.
I recommend this restaurant to everyone, meat lovers or not. If you enter, and you aren’t a meat eater yet, you’ll sure...
Read moreMeatEater Steak&Wine was a surprise on my itinerary, recommended by TripAdvisor. Despite booking well in advance, there was no need, as the place was nearly empty when I arrived. The prices were steep which could explain why. Shocked at first, I decided to stay and ordered the lamb saddle starter and the cheapest main, a 300g ribeye, which set me back a hefty sum. At this point, I was committed, having already ordered a glass of wine and a bottle of water.
Despite the high prices, the meal was filled with pleasant surprises. The chef sent out an amuse-bouche of goat’s cheese with focaccia, which I surprisingly enjoyed, followed by a second treat: a brioche-style bread with foamy butter that was simply outstanding. Unfortunately, the lamb saddle with morel was underwhelming due to the amount of gristle and fat. However, the ribeye more than made up for it—this was a well-seasoned, beautifully marbled cut of meat, complemented perfectly by the potatoes and a delicious béarnaise sauce. I was too full for dessert, but the meal ended on a sweet note with a trio of mini desserts: gel, almond, and cocoa.
What really stood out at MeatEater Steak&Wine was the impeccable service. The waiter was attentive, clearly explained the menu, and checked in regularly without being intrusive. The excellent service, combined with the chef’s little extra touches, made this an unforgettable dining experience. While MeatEater Steak&Wine is certainly expensive, it’s worth it for a special treat, and I left feeling satisfied with my...
