QQ Restaurant is one of my new favorite restaurants I have been anywhere in the world! I have been to a LOT of places and the level of quality and taste of food as well as service was at the very top of them all! We tried so many different dishes, from starters to mains to desserts, and everything was incredible. Not to mention the price is VERY good considering the level of good food you’re getting - Michelin Star-worthy Indonesian food that tops the very best Asian restaurants anywhere! Hats off to the chefs in the kitchen!!
We got both the coconut margarita and the butterfly pea sparkling cocktail (I don’t remember the exact name of it) - both were incredibly good and drinks I would order all the time at a restaurant!!
For food, we ordered the following: salmon tempura sashimi w/ yuzu butter ponzu, soft shell crab mushu taco, oyster po’ bao sandwich, 5-spice pork ribs, pork & prawn shumai, pan-fried prawns in dry coconut laksa w/ pineapple & sambal matah, braised lamb shank in coconut cardamom curry, and then the fried bananas with berry ice cream as well as the salt sponge cake with coconut ice cream for dessert! Oh yeah, and we also got a side of rice and a side of nasi kuning (yellow coconut rice). It was a LOT, but the portions were quite reasonable, and this is what I like most about restaurants like this: you can get a lot of different dishes and share with everyone! For two people, this was a lot of food (obviously), but it was just so good we kept ordering more and more. So come to QQ Restaurant hungry - you will leave full!!
We spent 20 minutes trying to figure out what were our favorites…everything was so good, it was way too hard to choose! The starters and the mains were all amazing and depending on what you’re craving, you would be happy with anything. Two must-trys are the 5 spice pork ribs and the salt sponge cake for dessert, so save room for dessert! That might help narrow your decision. I also want to give a massive shoutout to all the great staff working there tonight because they were great, helped us navigate the menu well, and answered any questions we had!! 10/10 restaurant!!!!!!
EDIT: We came back again tonight and once again had an incredible meal. By far my favorite Asian restaurant I’ve ever been to and easily in my top 3 favorite restaurants ever!! We tried some of the same dishes (our favorites - the 5-spice pork ribs as well as the salt caramel sponge cake for dessert), but also a lot of new ones, and EVERYTHING was amazing: an espresso martini, the Thai blue flower iced tea, stir-fried baby squid, grilled chicken satay lillit lemongrass skewers, fried prawn po’ bao sandwich, cassava crackers, general tso’s crispy sesame chicken, crispy duck w/ mushu pancakes, and mango sticky rice pudding! The drinks were wonderful, all the appetizers were beyond good, and both entrees and dessert - incredible!! This place just doesn’t miss, and we have tried almost the whole menu so we KNOW that for certain. Visit QQ Restaurant next time you’re...
Read moreSHORT VERSION: This place is good for those who want to eat Asian food. Not good for those, who are looking for anything more. Food was OK, some interesting flavours (although beef rendang is a sad European version of its amazing Indonesian original) Drinks overpriced (85,- for a glass of ice tea), manager and owner very insecure and very vigilant for any signs of negative feedback. Wrong customer attitude - they are not customer oriented. They are pride oriented. Which I think is a big drawback.
LONG VERSION (for those who care): Some restaurants expect customers to give feedback, others dont. QQ definitely does not. Now why would a manager or god forbid, owner (!) NOT want to hear a feedback? The answer is simple: QQ does neither understand the difference between a feedback and a complaint, nor they could possibly deal with a complaint, if they did receive one. In QQ, you just simply DO NOT COMPLAIN = don't mention things that are not fantastic. How do I know? Their manager told me specifically "I would never complain!" I was speechless getting this educational speech after having spent over 3000,- crowns.
What is this all about? A bench, covered with synthetic leather that was too narrow to sit on. After spending a nice evening in this restaurant, eating nice (but not fantastic) food, all I wanted to give was a friendly feedback about this bench which simply did not match the experience. I expected the owners to be interested in hearing how to make things even better. Wrong decision! I was sarcastically silenced by both the manager and the owner: "Oh? You don't like our bench? Well you are the very first customer complaining about this. And we are not going to change it because of you. So have a nice evening." These words of one of the owners left me speechless.
I was trying to talk to the manager afterwards, to explain, but she followed in the exact same tone and it all got even worse. I felt ridiculous, it was going nowhere. We hit a wall of ignorance.
Well you guys, in QQ, call me when you all go through personal therapy, I might stop by to check how you attitude is. In the mean time: do change that awful bench - it was a torture, trying to sit straight all night long. Or better yet: try sitting on it for 2 hours and you will see what I mean. Why am I the first one to complain? Could it have something to do with people being afraid to complain maybe? I would definitely not dare to do so again! (not that I did complain! it was just a feedback!)
And I almost forgot: QQ, please, put a large note on your door saying "only positive feedback allowed" or "we love our customers, but only those who are amazed by us" or perhaps "complaining not allowed..." Last time I checked, this was a free country - we went through "not being allowed to complain" for many decades. Now it is just not...
Read moreWe paid 3400 Koruna (approximately €150) per person for an eight-course meal.
Pros: Ambiance: The setting was trendy and enjoyable. Entertainment: The highlight of the evening was the Balinese dancers who performed during the meal. Their captivating performance added a unique and engaging touch to the experience. Notable Dishes: Some of the courses were exceptional, such as the crab taco, mango sticky rice, tuna tataki, and laksa.
Cons: -Service: For a Michelin-recommended restaurant, the service fell far short of expectations. We repeatedly had to call out to the staff just to get basic requests like drinks or water. Many seemed to avoid eye contact entirely, which was baffling, especially since drinks weren’t included in the meal and could have been an opportunity to upsell. Missed Course: The staff forgot to serve one of the courses. They brought out the main course (the beef dish) before completing the earlier courses. We had to remind them, which disrupted the flow of the meal. Allergy Concerns: Despite informing the restaurant of specific allergy concerns via email at the time of booking (as shown in the attached screenshot), these were completely overlooked. No one clarified the allergies upon seating, and we had to flag down a waiter to reiterate the concerns. The waiter seemed surprised and unaware, which was especially frustrating as other tables nearby received proactive attention to their dietary needs. It felt like our table had been neglected. Portion Sizes: Unlike other Michelin-starred establishments, the portion sizes were disappointingly small. Sharing dishes between two people was expected, even for the main course. For instance, the beef dish contained just eight tiny pieces of steak, intended to be shared between two people. Sharing a single bowl of rice between two diners also felt inadequate.
While the ambiance and a few standout dishes made parts of the evening enjoyable, the service, attention to allergies, and portion sizes left much to be desired for the price point and reputation of...
