Wow... Left speechless by the quality of cuisine on offer at Sova, especially when I take the price into account. Walk down the stairs and be escorted to your table in a tastefully decorated underground/cave-like area. I appreciated the quality of the sound system as well as the music choice too.
We had nice cocktails but they paled in comparison to the AMAZING quality of the food on offer here. The plates are beautifully served up and contain fresh, high quality ingredients. The recipes are modern but not overly so, expect a fine dining style with small but satisfying portions. What stood out particularly was the expertly mixed mousses and emulsion bringing just the right amounts of complex flavours to the very good ingredients. I'll particularly recommend their original take on the steak tartare as a starter. Desert was also of very high caliber (I had the beer based ice cream served with a vanilla emulsion frozen in dry ice and served right on your plate, quite the show!).
The one thing I will point out as an improvement point was the timing on service. I'm used to servers "pacing" the table (wait until cocktails are over before taking the order or bringing the starters, leave some time between dishes so the guests can have enough time to enjoy the experience etc). Here the service felt a bit rushed with a "get it on the table asap" approach which might also be a cultural difference as I'm not Czech.
This is not enough to knock down the 5* rating as again, the quality of food you get for your money and overall experience is absolutely fantastic, I hope I can go...

We chose Sova for our final dinner in Prague through google suggestion, hoping for something special, but it was a huge disappointment — especially considering how expensive it was.
The waitress rushed us to order twice before we were ready, but apart from that, she was nice. The food however was seriously underwhelming. Many of the flavors weren’t fresh, and the pork belly ended up giving some of us food poisoning, which totally disrupted our plans for the next day. Forget the plans - he himself went through so much pain, throwing up all night. One elderly family member immediately noticed it tasted off, saying the sauce seemed to be masking spoiled meat. The rest of us tried to give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt and ignored her, but unfortunately, she was right.
The other components weren’t much better: the sauerkraut was bland, the veal came with unseasoned mash, and the dessert was served dangerously cold with not enough sweetness on the plate.
To top it off, we left a tip (despite it not being Czech custom) out of politeness for the decent service we had; we did, but left feeling cheated due to the food. We really didn’t want this to be true, but the experience was certainly not worth the money...
Read moreAtmosphere is very nice. Soft rock playing in the background, not too loud so you can carry on a conversation was a good start. And it got better from there. The goulash was very good. Not what an American might think of as goulash but still quite enjoyable. Which brings me to my main course, veal cheeks. You may say you'd never eat something with a name like that but trust me, do yourself a favor and enjoy what is one of the underappreciated meals one could eat. And don't forget about getting a glass of the Czech red wine, which was also quite flavorful. The dessert was just as enjoyable as the meal. I had the chocolate fondant. Don't be fooled. it's just another name for a molten chocolate cake. Dressed with a side of mango sherbet. I will be going back again.
Went back again for my last night in Prague. I'm having an internal debate which meal was better. The Asian Style Soup to start was a dream. Following, the duck breast was tender and moist. With a perfect presentation. And combined with the homemade BBQ and apple mousse was delectable. They offered salt and pepper, but trust me there is no need. Everything is perfectly seasoned. If you're in Prague do yourself a favor and find...
