Located in the heart of Prague, this charming restaurant offers an authentic taste of Czech cuisine paired with excellent beer. One of the highlights is their Staropramen, a local favorite that's perfectly served to complement their traditional dishes.
We started with chips served with garlic cream, a simple yet flavorful appetizer that set the tone for the meal. Next, we shared the baked Camembert, which was deliciously creamy and paired wonderfully with the fresh bread. We also tried the uniquely named "Pedo de Pivrnec," a classic dish that added a playful touch to the dining experience.
The restaurant's downstairs area is particularly unique, with one wall dedicated to guests who can paint and leave their mark. The walls are adorned with drawings by a local artist, adding to the artistic and cozy ambiance. However, it's important to note that guests should not paint on the framed drawings—respect the art!
For those who may not speak Czech, the menu is conveniently available in Spanish, making it easy to navigate through the various options. Overall, this restaurant is a delightful spot in Prague to enjoy traditional food, good beer, and a bit of creativity...

The place is located in the heart of Prague, and it's easy to find.
The exterior is inviting.
We didn't have a reservation, so we were seated in the ground floor, which is still very nice. However, if you can, I recommend trying to get a table in the basement. The whole place is decorated in the style of "The Good Soldier Švejk", a satirical dark comedy novel by Czech writer Jaroslav Hašek.
The host was very polite and welcoming, and he made sure that we were comfortable throughout our meal. We ordered the duck breast dish, which was absolutely delicious. The meat was cooked to perfection. The prices at the restaurant are high, but the food and service are worth it.
Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Prague. It's a great place to experience traditional Czech cuisine in a unique and atmospheric setting.
Tips:
Make a reservation if possible, especially if you're visiting during peak season.
Try to get a table in the basement.

Read moreWe ate there today. The basement is very pleasant and decorated with drawings, the service was good and friendly, and they even have a menu in Spanish. The food was good too, however, I can't give a higher rating because, after we left, we realized that they gave us the wrong change: the meal was 796 crowns, we gave the waitress 2,096 crowns so she would only have to give us back 1,300 crowns, without doing too much math, but after leaving the place, we saw that they gave us 100 crowns less, that is, 1,200 crowns.
We didn’t feel good about going back to complain since we no longer had any way to prove that the change was incorrect as we had paid in cash; but it always hurts when you're overcharged by 100 crowns (approximately 4€), though I’d like to think it was simply a mistake by the girl and not an attempt to cheat us.
Summary: highly recommended place, but double-check your change, especially if you're tourists and not familiar with the local...
