Some locals might claim that the asam pedas isn't authentic enough, but to me it is good enough. In fact, could be among the best ones. I also love the fact that they're the only one to serve the set with cooked cabbage (lauk sayur kubis) instead of typical ulam. And even if you're not a fan of asam pedas, there's plenty of other options like kerang rebus, street burger, roti john, fried noodles etc; which tasted just as goooood. Some also claim that the price is slightly on the higher side. Well, it isn't cheap, but totally not expensive either (standard price like those local food restaurants in KL). I was charged RM23 for a set of one claypot bowl of Asam Pedas Telur Ikan Tenggiri (two big fish roe; more than enough for two), a plate of hot rice (not cold and dry like some street restaurants), cabbage, sambal belacan and salted egg + one roti canai + ice lemon tea + sirap limau. I believe, if it's in KL, RM23 might just be enough for the asam pedas telur ikan alone. Lol. And the claim that the service is bad is also baseless. There were plenty of waiters, and quite fast too. Yes, the turnaround time for a meal to be sent to your table could be improved, but to the extent that you turned restless by it. Oh.. this is not one of those fancy restaurants, fyi. It is just a typical shophouse, 2 or 3 lots combined, with the small alley in front of it filled up with dozens of tables. Yet still, the ambience is cool enough, considering there is no nice views (well.. you don't really need in the dark lol). There's a busker band too (tho they might wanna consider looking for a new better vocalist, but that's a whole different topic lol). All in all, I would definitely come here every time I'm in Melaka. It is just a walk away from Casa Del Rio, aka not too far from Jonker area. Opens at 6pm and closes at 4pm. Highly recommended.

Came to Melaka for a quick Getaway and RnR.. Wife suggested to go eat at her favourite Asam pedas. Which is apparently this shop, Mind you there are 3 Asam Pedas diner here and the one i went is this Laksamana Original Claypot Asam Pedas. Came here with low expectation as i am not that big of a fan of Asam Pedas. But to my surprise, the store opens up at 6pm and when we got there it was already 90% full! We were lucky to find a small table to accommodate ourselves. So we ordered our food, i took Daging Tetel asam pedas and my wife Pari Asam Pedas. The set gives us sambal, rice, some veggies, telur masin. Also got the chance to order 2 basket of my favourite otak otak which i still think Melaka have the best taste compared to other states (yea abit bias bout the otak otak). It took roughly 30 minutes for out food to arrive considering the shop is at full capacity when we first arrived. Now, while im not a big fan of Asam Pedas as i said earlier, this shop managed to convinced me otherwise. Damn it was good... Surely the presentation looks normal and uninspiring but heck the food was damn tasty!! Been awhile since i ate outside and had great cheap food like this and make my taste buds go crazy. Their reputation surely isnt something to look down upon. Yes they are legit. Tl;DR if you want to have a good experience in Asam Pedas.. this is a great place to have some!!!! You wont regret it.

Dear Asam Pedas Claypot Kota Laksamana Management, I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to provide feedback on my visit to your restaurant on August 24, 2024, at 12 AM. Although it was my first time dining at your establishment, my experience was unfortunately overshadowed by the behavior of one of your staff members. During my visit, I interacted with the server who attended to the SATAR and OTAK OTAK orders. I was troubled by his apparent disinterest and dismissive attitude, particularly when he made an inappropriate facial expression towards my autistic nephew. This behavior was upsetting and made us feel unwelcome. Additionally, after I noticed his attitude, he returned to our table and made a disparaging comment about my bag. While I understand that everyone is entitled to their opinion, his remarks about the fake bag I carry— which was a gift from a close friend—were both unprofessional and hurtful. I am not ashamed to carry this bag, and such comments were unnecessary. This experience significantly impacted my overall dining experience and left me feeling frustrated and uncomfortable. I believe that maintaining a courteous and professional demeanor is essential for providing a positive customer experience. I wanted to bring this matter to your attention not to cause trouble but to ensure that future guests do not encounter similar issues. I trust that with proper training and support, your team can continue to offer the excellent service I had hoped for from your restaurant. Thank you for taking the time to read my feedback. I hope to see improvements in the future and look forward to the possibility of dining with you again under more positive circumstances.

Came here due to good reviews at youtube, but it was overrated. Firstly, the waiter gave the wrong order and didn't bother to correct the order afterwards. Initially, I ordered nasi goreng seafood pattaya, but they served me nasi goreng chinese style pattaya with no meat. I had to cut the fried egg before I could see that the order was wrong. I was later neglected despite the incorrect order and since I'm already hungry I tried to eat the food but it was not to my liking at all 😭(kid's preference supposed to be for the table beside us). I couldn't finish my meal and did not enjoy my dinner.😩 During payment, the waiter was being so defiant about their mistake and pushed that since I ate a bit considered as good, and they charged me the whole price.😑 Their asam pedas as per reviewed by my family members were also very disappointing. Too salty. The cockles were smaller than my pinky toe.😩 I just dont understand the hype at all. Are all youtubers doing the reviews for the sake of content without really liking the food? Did not recommend it to all. Not nice.😡

As expected, it was the busiest Asam Pedas restaurant on that street. If you have a foreign look, you will get a sharp question at the entrance before getting the seat "English, Malay or Chinese". With some broken Malay, I went bold with the answer Malay supposing the menu with short English explanations will clear the fear. However, life is not that easy. The menu with pictures of dishes that look so similar and there's no explanation like what the ingredients are. Something I don't like is that they give some extra food to our table without saying anything, just putting there as we should have known it all. At first, I thought it may be just a side dishe that goes with the main dish. It's like when you go to Korean restaurants, they give you some pickles like kimchi. I saw that on other tables too so I added a customer there, they told me it will be charged. Anyways, I enjoyed the dish as a new experience. Just take a dish with the fish stew when you come here.

asam pedas taste great , we ordered alot asam pedas tetel is actually my favorite. there is nasi lemak with kangkung too. the asam pedas taste actually better with roti (roti canai). you can eat fruits first before asam pedas came in . the fruits however was a bit pricey (rm5 for a cup) price is like klcc cold storage lol. the fruits are fresh and nice to it's okay. the service is super fast. so i was reading the comments saying that the food came out late, i guess it's our lucky night because service was super fast even with a big crowd and a long queue. oh yeah the queue was long but the wait was short so it is bearable. sometimes you can hear the waitresses shouting but that is just the way there is in malacca how people speak right? because they were actually in a fight lol. so overall great food, fast service, super attentive waiters/waitresses, great SOPs. will be back for sure
