Some locals might claim that the asam pedas isn't authentic enough, but to me it is good enough. In fact, could be among the best ones. I also love the fact that they're the only one to serve the set with cooked cabbage (lauk sayur kubis) instead of typical ulam.
And even if you're not a fan of asam pedas, there's plenty of other options like kerang rebus, street burger, roti john, fried noodles etc; which tasted just as goooood.
Some also claim that the price is slightly on the higher side. Well, it isn't cheap, but totally not expensive either (standard price like those local food restaurants in KL). I was charged RM23 for a set of one claypot bowl of Asam Pedas Telur Ikan Tenggiri (two big fish roe; more than enough for two), a plate of hot rice (not cold and dry like some street restaurants), cabbage, sambal belacan and salted egg + one roti canai + ice lemon tea + sirap limau. I believe, if it's in KL, RM23 might just be enough for the asam pedas telur ikan alone. Lol.
And the claim that the service is bad is also baseless. There were plenty of waiters, and quite fast too. Yes, the turnaround time for a meal to be sent to your table could be improved, but to the extent that you turned restless by it.
Oh.. this is not one of those fancy restaurants, fyi. It is just a typical shophouse, 2 or 3 lots combined, with the small alley in front of it filled up with dozens of tables. Yet still, the ambience is cool enough, considering there is no nice views (well.. you don't really need in the dark lol). There's a busker band too (tho they might wanna consider looking for a new better vocalist, but that's a whole different topic lol).
All in all, I would definitely come here every time I'm in Melaka. It is just a walk away from Casa Del Rio, aka not too far from Jonker area. Opens at 6pm and closes at 4pm. Highly...
Read moreDear Asam Pedas Claypot Kota Laksamana Management,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to provide feedback on my visit to your restaurant on August 24, 2024, at 12 AM. Although it was my first time dining at your establishment, my experience was unfortunately overshadowed by the behavior of one of your staff members.
During my visit, I interacted with the server who attended to the SATAR and OTAK OTAK orders. I was troubled by his apparent disinterest and dismissive attitude, particularly when he made an inappropriate facial expression towards my autistic nephew. This behavior was upsetting and made us feel unwelcome.
Additionally, after I noticed his attitude, he returned to our table and made a disparaging comment about my bag. While I understand that everyone is entitled to their opinion, his remarks about the fake bag I carry— which was a gift from a close friend—were both unprofessional and hurtful. I am not ashamed to carry this bag, and such comments were unnecessary.
This experience significantly impacted my overall dining experience and left me feeling frustrated and uncomfortable. I believe that maintaining a courteous and professional demeanor is essential for providing a positive customer experience.
I wanted to bring this matter to your attention not to cause trouble but to ensure that future guests do not encounter similar issues. I trust that with proper training and support, your team can continue to offer the excellent service I had hoped for from your restaurant.
Thank you for taking the time to read my feedback. I hope to see improvements in the future and look forward to the possibility of dining with you again under more positive...
Read moreOk experience. We were on our road trip Penang-Johor when my brother suggested this place for dinner. It is quite far from PLUS toll, since its in city centre. Quite near jonker walk. The customer mainly families and student groups. There are even busker band.
We ordered 2 sets asam pedas ikan tenggiri, 1 set asam pedas telur ikan, 1 roti canai kosong, 1 roti canai sardin, 1 basket otak otak, and drinks. 1 set = 1 plate rice + wok fried cabbage + half salted egg + asam pedas of your choice. I like the flavour of curry that goes with roti canai. 'Cair', but tasty to me. Roti canai sardin didn't taste like sardin, more like boiled fish only. Asam pedas are ok, but I like the thick gravy. More to spicy than asam. Should be expected the spiciness since you are eating Melaka cuisine.
Total bill reached nearly RM70. Asked for the receipt. Our asam pedas set each RM16. We did not expect that price. Should have asked about the price when ordering, since we were not given the menu.
I guess most waiters are part time students. They look young and inexperienced. But there are a lot of them. The speed of service is ok to me, even though its public holiday and tables nearly full. I noticed customers prefer seating outdoor rather than indoor. The lady who take care of our bill look like the boss. A bit strict with her workers, and harsh.
Not sure if I would recommend this place. The taste is subjective. But maybe this is the place if u want to experience being diner of...
