Café het Paleis — Restaurant in Amsterdam

Horrible service. The waiter did not take half of our order after clearly discussing the order. We ordered tap water, and he brought bottled water, we were later charged 6€ (!!!) for the bottle of water that we didn’t order. He forgot half the drinks and half the food. One friend had to eat after everyone finished eating. We also said that our order included red fruits, so when we brought this to the waiter attention (because of course we did not get them) they brought us ONE AND A HALF strawberry per person (very small strawberries by the way). At the time of paying, they wanted to charge us the full amount, and when I explained to the waiter that they should offer some kind of discount, they did it on a bad tone. Never coming back, you...

Would give negative stars if I could. Horrible horrible horrible staff and service. Absolutely racist and unapologetic. Our food order didn’t come for 40 mins and we politely reminded a couple times while we waited, when the food didn’t come finally our server just casually said ‘oh I didn’t know you are still waiting’. Because of that, we missed dinner times everywhere. When I expressed we still need to eat, she said ‘Goodluck finding dinner at this time’ with a smirk. Such a pathetic place and service. This place and their staff can go take a hike. To treat visitors and tourists like this, taking the worst impression of Amsterdam back thanks...

We found this cute and friendly cafe when looking around Amsterdam yesterday. We had such a warm welcome from the friendly waiter. A varied sandwich, burger and pasta menu that is relatively small but covers many dietary requirements. Veggie sandwich for me, eggs, ham and cheese grilled on brioche for my husband and Dutch pancakes for my daughter. All delicious, prompt and served with great beer and a white hot chocolate!! Overall we thoroughly enjoyed a relaxed late lunch sitting in the sunny window seat overlooking the canal and would recommend visiting this very reasonably priced cafe right...
