This place is special. I was wandering around Amsterdam late one unseasonably cold morning in early May looking for a place to relax while I awaited a friend. Most nearby places were either closed or overpriced, but this spot was open. The interior is charming and I sat on the second floor and drank several beers and a delicious double Americano while people watching out the window. Read moreI went to this Café and asked for a hot chocolate with soy milk. The waiter said: "I can't do that because we don't make the hot chocolate fresh. We just warm it up." So you are charging 3,50€ for a warmed up ready made drink, allright then. He then proceeded to say in the most rude way: "We are not a hipster vegan place"... A "we don't have that option, sorry" would have been professional and polite. There were two people sitting at the bar with who the waiter then started talking to. I think they were staff or friends. They were all three staring and laughing at me. SO RUDE. I packed my things and left....

It was a magical little place, we stayed there for multiple hours and had some tomato soup and cheese toastie and drinks, just what we needed. Sitting upstairs we watched people through the big window and listened to the Christmas music, sometimes the most simple things turn out to be the most wonderful.
