We visited today with a group of six people. Overall, our experience was okayâthe food was good, and all the other staff members were friendly. However, the waitress who served us at Table 2 completely ruined the experience.
Right from the start, her rude attitude was noticeable. There were six of us, and on one plate, there was only half a skewer, a lettuce leaf as decoration, and shrimp tails. Despite this, we were immediately and quite harshly told that she would take the plate âthis one time,â but from now on, we were not allowed to leave anything behind. Instead of checking whether there was actually uneaten food left or just inedible scraps, she simply scolded us. When we asked her what exactly she thought was still edible, she ignored the question and just repeated her statement.
Even though we had reserved the table for two hours, she constantly reminded us how much time we had left. Fifteen minutes before our time was up, she asked if we wanted to payâat that point, we had already lost interest and just went along with it.
When she realized we werenât leaving a tip due to her poor service, her behavior became even more unpleasant. She silently took the plates, placed the tip jar on our table in an obvious manner, and pointed it out to us again. When she noticed she wouldnât be getting anything, she slowly removed the jar from the tableâan ironic move, considering she had been rushing us the entire time.
At nearly âŹ50 for an "All You Can Eat" experience, there should be some toleranceâespecially for first-time guests who want to try different things. The portions are deliberately small to minimize waste, so this kind of strictness felt entirely inappropriate.
Since the restaurant was quite busy, we decided against making a complaint on the spot. However, we feel itâs important to highlight that this waitress significantly impacted our experience in a negative way. The food was good, and the rest of the staff was friendlyâbut this particular server either needs serious training or should not be working in customer...
Read moreWow much has changed here. Whereas this was one of the best all you can eat sushi places, it has now boiled down to terrible customer service, flat-out rude, stinky toilets and mediocre food. It started with them giving our party with 3 less mobile elderly a table upstairs. They were notified when making reservations. As we did not know there was an upstairs area we had asked them not to place us in the booths as we could not with our elderly guests. They tried to blame it on us for not letting them know. But 1+1=2. It took them 5 minutes to give us a table downstairs while the restaurant was almost empty. All the while they made us stand there with our less mobile guests. Next we were warned they would be stricter with giving out fines with unfinished food. âŹ5 per dish!!! And when asked about child discount I had to give his height instead of age to see if he qualifies. We were told that we had 5 rounds in two hours time. But each round took them a lot of time to bring. For the 4th round when we still had 45 minutes. It took them 1:15 to bring everything from the order completely. In the meantime they would say we had to leave with time left. Also they did come to the table 10 minutes before endtime to tell us that in 10 minutes we were not allowed to order. They took away the ipad for ordering 10 minutes before our time was finished and with one round left. When they finally brought our last order. Which was 1:15 after ordering it and we missed the 5th round for it, it was cold and smelly. Immediately I asked it to be replaced. First I was accused that I waited too long to report it. Next they came with a thermometer to measure the temperature at the table! Then after us complaining they took away the food put it in the microwave for 10 seconds and brought it back to the table. They did not answer our questions about it and walked away. 5minutes later the check was dropped (literally) on our table. We gave up and left. The most embarrassing experience. We are never coming back. Avoid this place seriously. One star...
Read moreIt has been a while since I have visited Miu Amsterdam. The last time was in 2016, so a lot has changed. There is something nostalgic about this place. I remember they used to play âHappy birthdayâ through the speakers by Stevie Wonder, when it is someoneâs birthday. I loved it!
Food: I have made a collage to see how the dishes will look like, you can taste that they have paid attention in preparing the plates. The ebi tempura was stunning! The maki sushiâs are the right bite size. The sushi in general are very fresh. The meat dishes are well seasoned. If I can sum one thing up then it was the missing of condensed milk on the fried mantou, sesame balls and the fresh fruit was replaced. But perhaps itâs temporary! (Letâs hope so) There is enough choice on the menu, feel free to try it out.
Service: Their team is well trained, very alert and polite. My friend has dropped his chopsticks and immediately there were new ones, without asking.
Atmosphere: As you can see the restaurant is mid-century modern. I always had the weakness for Phillips Hue style lightnings and they have it a lot here which is just very nice. When you go to the restrooms and you are releasing your inner waste fluids, look at the paintings. Whoever designed these canvasses, it is philosophical and it will translate how you think about life. My compliments.
Conclusion: Stevie Wonder had disapeared from the speakers. The food hasnât changed, actually even made some improvement. In the end Miu is still a pleasant place to visit and to enjoy...
