The W is a luxury boutique hotel housed in two buildings which were formerly a bank and a telephone exchange, facing each other, on opposite sides of Spuistraat. The hotel's entrance in the exchange building has a small reception desk next to the elevators. Situated on the top floor, besides being one of the city's loftiest and trendiest hotspots, W Lounge also functions as the hotel's lobby. Here, you are likely to encounter international celebrities mingled with Amsterdam's "jet set". The huge lounge offers a stunning 360 degree panoramic view of the city centre with the neighbouring Royal Palace and Magna Plaza shopping mall appearing so close, you almost feel that you can reach out and touch them. The lounge has an assortment of seating areas, open hearth fireplaces and a choice of bars and dining areas. There's even a wet bar with rooftop heated swimming pool. W Lounge offers a superb selection of signature cocktails. Snacks and bar food are available and for those with an appetite, there's Mr Porter, a stunning New York style steakhouse on the same floor. After sunset, the atmosphere is buzzing, as resident DJs play a great assortment of sounds. The staff go out of their way to make you feel at home. For those "in the know", W Lounge regularly hosts some of the best parties and events in town.

The W Amsterdam is a standout hotel that excels in both luxury and location. Nestled in the heart of the city, it offers easy access to a multitude of amenities, making it a perfect choice for travelers looking to explore. Most attractions are within walking distance, allowing guests to soak in the vibrant atmosphere of Amsterdam without the need for transportation. The accommodations at the W Amsterdam are truly exceptional, highlighted by the comfortable and spacious beds that guarantee a restful night's sleep. Many guests rave about the quality of the bedding and the overall ambiance of the rooms, which blend modern design with local influences. One of the hotel's crowning features is its rooftop bar, which provides breathtaking views of the city. It's a brilliant spot to unwind after a day of sightseeing, offering a diverse menu of cocktails and small bites. The atmosphere is lively yet relaxed, making it an ideal place to socialize or simply enjoy the scenery. Overall, the W Amsterdam comes highly recommended for anyone seeking a memorable stay in the city. With its prime location, luxurious amenities, and outstanding service, it’s a hotel that truly enhances the Amsterdam experience.

Genuine complaint About the hosting at the entrance of the W hotel. Inside the W there are multiple establishments. For example Mr. Porter. But also referring to this specifiek review for the W lounge. As a native resident I come in quite some establishments but regularly the host downstairs says the lounge is open at 9.30pm. Whilst I know as referred to on google the w lounge area is open from 11 am. I also have worked previously for the entourage group (the collective that manages multiple establishments in Amsterdam) and can tell you that this part of the job is regularly done very unprofessionally. For an upscale visitor bringing my business and work associates to these places it really leaves no room for spontaneity. Something I should be able to count on it I know that certain establishments do serve food or drinks at that certain time. Doing this type of unprofessional en irresponsible doorpolicy can prohibit revenue. Please take this up to management. a lot of people in the high end service industry forget that they do not own the place. Their bosses do. and bringing in revenue and certain clientele is important. Word travels fast in the businessworld. And some might spend their money elsewhere where the ambiance is a lot more welcome. (Cecconi’s, conservatorium hotel etc is an example that they could use for reference since they never miss. Had these type of interferences in some other establishments also of the entouragegroup. And I see after years this flair still hasn’t been resolved...

The first time we had been to W lounge, and we went with high hopes. Unfortunately these hopes were not justified. When we entered we looked for a space to take a seat whilst no one from the staff greeted us (it was not busy). Only when we went to sit down the bartender informed us the table we wanted was reserved for hotel guests. That’s fine, but if you see us walking in, and looking around, why not greet us instead of watching us and saying nothing until we make a “mistake”? We then took a seat, and it took us 15 minutes for someone to come and check on us. I can understand this if it was busy, but it was not. One lady near the entrance was standing near our table but was occupied with anything but the dirty tables all around us or the guests. When we made the order the cocktails came out in 5-10 minutes which was good, but they one had was topped up with crushed ice, and had no straw! This is a basic rule when making cocktails with crushed ice. When we needed the waitress my friend raised her hand and she looked at us with absolute disdain, and when we asked for straws, she made us feel like we were rude for bothering her. After almost 35 minutes of waiting we were finally able to enjoy a drink, which was good, but not at the level of many other cocktail bars in Amsterdam. We had one waitress who was very nice and hospitable who brought us our drinks (I don’t know your name, but keep it up!!). All-in-all, great potential but awful...

Went Sunday for the party, terrible! 😪 Waited almost 1 hour in the line, we just stood there, no movement and ANY communication whatsoever, seemed after that the club was too crowded but nobody there even hesitated to mention this.... Then, the wardrobe lady was super friendly, but then when took the lift, again a line! Waited AGAIN almost 30 Minutes, then insided, wanna catch a drink, total chaos, waited for 20 minutes AGAIN! We were in the middle (3 employees standing there), we were like why isn't anybody looking or helping us, then this 1 employee said you need to order @one of my colleagues on the left or the right, HOW THE HELL SHOULD I KNOW THIS!? 😖... One employee with the glasses it all went too fast (or she was too slow) and she yelles: 'ok, time out' 😆..

Then finally off to the 'dancefloor' if you can call it this, there was a stretched couch on the floor providing very limited dance space. The Dj was doing a wonderfull job playing house music but I heared before it was Urban genre music playing, this is very confusing! The guests looked topnotch but not my type of party people, a bit snobbish. The place itselfs looks marvelous but must be if the drinks are so expensive... PLEASE communicate to your guests so they know why they are waiting in lines so long without any movement! I never leave bad reviews so this is a...
