Delicious lunch …our first in Copenhagen we wanted a traditional experience…. Just around the corner from Nyhavn down a few stone steps we found a cozy room with very friendly staff…we were the only non-danish there! Began with some refreshing local beer and then 3 smorresbrod to share with 2 schnapps. [ from their huge collection) as recommended to accompany our choices (and perfect they were!). Curry herring and pickled herring in port wine with tasty accompaniments, then sardines with onion and egg yolk with toast, then rye with egg, mayonnaise and Greenland prawns.. Goodness…a friendly and delicious experience.. Didn’t really need dessert but keen to try the Apple crips cake… vanilla cream.. yum! Read moreRegardless being in Denmark for quite a few years now, I could never find the place to taste some real authentic (and delicious) Danish food. Until I tried Told & Snaps. I went for the Fried Fish with Shrimps and Remoulade and I didn’t regret it. I would even say that it was such an eye-opening experience that both me and my friends couldn’t help to go for a second and try more, share the experience. Trully amazing! And the best part? We were given a shot of snaps that would compliment the dish. P.S. The lemon one was sooo good. Excellent service, great attention to details, snaps shots and all of that together with the true spirit of the Danish traditional food....

But the "smörrebröd" .... well, not really. You get the feeling there have been to many guests and to many tourists so nobody cares about the quality. I had shrimps. Okey, but I got the feeling of deepfrozen before it came to may plate. The bread was actually not good at all. It became better with other "smörrebröds".
Conclusion: If you want to spend money on highpriced dishes - go somewhere else. If you dont care about quality and just want to have a beer and the famous aquavit and a snack...
