Review of Max’s Coal Oven Pizzeria from My Perspective:
I arrived at Max’s Coal Oven Pizzeria with two 11 year-old girls for dinner around 8:20, only to be informed that they were only taking takeout orders at the time. Despite this, I decided to place an order for two large pizzas and a glass of Sangria. To my surprise, the order was ready in less than 10 minutes, which was a pleasant surprise and a testament to the efficiency of the kitchen staff.
However, the situation took a turn when I asked if the girls could sit at an empty table and enjoy a slice of pizza while I finished my drink. Despite the fact that tables that were seated before us still hadn't received their food, including a large party of 15+ people, the bartender politely informed me that the manager wouldn't approve of the girls eating in the restaurant. While I appreciated the bartender's politeness, I found the lack of flexibility in this situation disappointing.
We left and as the girls grabbed a slice on the patio/sidewalk while waiting for our Uber, we were approached by the hostess who informed us that "Togo means to go" and that the girls couldn't eat in front of the establishment. Even though we were simply waiting for our ride, the hostess insisted that the children, who were well-behaved 11-year-olds, couldn't eat there. This interaction felt unnecessary and rude. Especially given the establishment was still open and many seated customers were still waiting on food.
In the end, I asked the girls to put away their slices and wait for the Uber, which arrived less than 5 minutes later, without finishing the single slice of pizza. The lack of understanding and empathy displayed by the management was disappointing and marred what could have been a positive dining experience.
My visit to Max’s Coal Oven Pizzeria was unfortunately tainted by poor customer service and inflexibility on the part of the staff. I hope that the restaurant takes this feedback constructively and works towards providing a more welcoming and customer-centric environment for all patrons.
Thank you for taking the time to read about my experience at Max’s Coal...
Read moreI don't like leaving bad reviews but hopefully this will be more like constructive criticism. It was a cute restaurant the kitchen staff was rocking and rolling. But unfortunately the front desk, manager and our server created a poor service vibe. When we checked in we were told half an hour wait even though we sent someone to check us in they said we all had to be there. There were at least 8 tables open but they were on a wait. When asked the front yound lady she said they didn't have silverware and they were rolling them. But even after rolling silverware the tables still were left open. I thought maybe they were short staffed. We had passed our given wait time and we were still no called so I thought it would be helpful to start getting out kids orders in. I took all the kids drink and pizza orders so that when we sat down we could start the kids food. I mentioned that I had done that to the front desk young lady and she said that we couldn't put the kids order in first. And that we would have to wait for everyone to sit down and order. I told her it would be better to get the kids first because we were a large party and sending so many orders at once the kitchen and pizza oven wouldn't be able to keep up. Thus made the young lady very upset and she said she wasn't going to talk to me anymore instead pointing to someone else from our party to discuss seating with. After sitting down I gave our server the order for the kids but he didn't put the order in until he took all the adults as well. Unfortunately the adults food came out first and the kids had to wait a while for their pizza to come out. It was very frustrating and we felt as though the service was poor maybe because of the front desk interaction or maybe because this manger, front of the house staff just want prepared for the volume. But regardless of the "busy" time at minimum Service doesn't cost anything. Even the kitchen manager came out to try to seat some tables. He seemed much friendlier than some of the front of the house staff. So hopefully they can get through the poor service because it was a cute place and...
Read moreWe had just gotten out of the aquarium and we had an appetite. It was hard to chose between a few options we had already singled out. I wanted to try a nice Korean place with decent reviews and pretty good pictures. There was a bison steak house and a fancy Mexican restaurant on the list also. We axed the Mexican cause that's all we eat back home, the wife wasn't feeling the Korean, but then again I just wanted to try their version of wings and Philly, the bison steak house sounded exotic enough but we didn't want to roll the dice and it was further than the pizza place, so Max's it was . Service was pretty darn good. They constantly kept up with our drinks and constantly cleaned our table. The ambiance was very chill. Just the right amount of noise to enjoy a lunch. Food was alright. We started off with some wing appetizers. I saw em on another table and they looked glorious. They turned out to have an excellent presentation, good flavor but we're very cold on the inside. They were fully cooked but cold. So wings were a bust. Then we opted to share a plate. We started with the chicken Parm with spaghetti then decided to go with the shrimp scampi in a garlic butter wine sauce. We subbed the shrimp for chicken though. Price didn't change. That was actually pretty good. Good portion and flavor but they didnt serve any kind of bread with it. So we order a traditional pizza. First pizza they brought out was burnt to a crisp, they actually asked if we wanted it like that,I thought they had to be joking but they actually asked and we told em no. I would not have thought that they would want to put their name behind that but I guess someone has actually said yes before. So we had them remake our pizza. We ordered the pizza cause it was coal fire cooked and we needed bread with our pasta, which we finished cause the good pizza took a bit. It wasn't terrible but we probably...
