I had seen reviews that said this place has great hamburgers, so I went to try them out. I arrived at 3:30pm on a weekday, so it wasn't very busy, as expected. The good news was that between 3-6pm, their happy hour meant $2 off any hamburger and $1 off french fries. That started things off well. Unfortunately, it pretty much went downhill from there. Because the happy hour prices were only available if I sat at the bar, I did that. The bartender, despite the light crowd, was pretty slow, but not oppressively so. She took my order without even writing it down (impressive!). Then she had to come back to ask what one of the items I ordered was (not so impressive). But still, things are going OK. She brought my Diet Pepsi quickly and put in my order to the kitchen. Then things ground to a halt. The kitchen, even though there was almost nobody there, took a good 15 minutes to get my hamburger and fries out. That would be OK at a real restaurant, but this isn't that kind of a restaurant. Most people (away from the bar) go up and order at the register, just like at a fast food restaurant, and then they bring out the food. The delay wasn't great, but I'm still thinking it's worth it if the burger is great. When my order arrived, the fries were just OK. It was nice that they were skin-on fries. But they were pretty tasteless, and the aioli dipping sauce that I ordered with them was a mistake. Yuk. Now the burger. I order their BAMF (Big And Meaty Fun) specialty burger. After getting the attention of the bartender for a knife and fork (not delivered with the order), I cut it up and dived in. The bottom line on this burger was that it was virtually tasteless. Part of the reason was that it was cooked nearly to hockey puck doneness. But I have a feeling that it would have been nearly tasteless even at medium-rare. The special BAMF sauce was nondescript and didn't really help. There wasn't much of it on the burger anyway. So, I begrudgingly ate my order (leaving most of the fries behind), knowing that I got what I paid for (at the happy hour prices). But I would much rather have spent my $9 at a Five Guys or even a Burger King. With luck, this one experience isn't typical of their normal service and food quality. But there are so many good burger places in town, that I doubt I'll go back to give them the second chance. If you go, I hope your experience is...
Read moreOur family visited Mall of America this past Saturday. We were nearing the end of our time there and feeling very hungry, so we arbitrarily chose a place in the food court based on their Google rating, and the fact that everyone in our family loves burgers. When we walked in mid afternoon it did not look very promising inside the restaurant. There weren't any customers except for a handful of bar patrons and the restaurant was in somewhat of disarray. I went to the bartender to place my order, as he was initially the only employee in site. She was very nice but as I started ordering he had to interrupt me to inform me of numerous things that they were out of. These were significant components to our orders too: Burger sauce, bacon, and the salad I was so looking forward to wasn't possible because they were out of lettuce! I was so tired that I decided just to make the best of it, rather than go somewhere else. Luckily they had numerous sauce options that all sounded delicious, it was easy to choose a replacement for the burger sauce. Instead of a salad I went with a half dozen wings. It was nice that they had that option where my small appetite. We sat down at a table and our food arrived only minutes later much to our surprise. When we started eating.. all of our potential regrets disappeared. Everything was incredible. The french fries were something out of a dream. They were home-fries style, the perfect combination of crispy and greasy, and had been sprinkled with a delicious seasoning mix. The bartender had recommended the truffle Ali for dipping, and he was on the money. All four of us agreed that we could have eaten it with a spoon. But the burgers oh my gosh the burgers were the real Superstar here. They were simply incredible! I'm so glad that we stayed and gave this place a chance we'll definitely be going back and hopefully next time they'll...
Read moreMy fiancé and I visited MN for the first time on Friday and our friends took us to Burger Burger. The line was ridiculous, only one register was open and there were at least 10 people in line. We placed our order at the same time as our friends but had to wait at least ten minutes more for ours. The burgers were super salty, so neither of us finished it. The fries, wings, and sauces were pretty good and are the only reason I gave two stars instead of one.
They had some major issues going on. The ice machine wasn't working and then the fountain drink machine stopped working as well. We were directed (by a lady in a green shirt - maybe the manager?) to ask for drinks at the bar and the bartender was super nice about it, but when our friend got up for a refill some other guy (who had been behind the front register) was behind the bar (while the bartender attempted to fix the ice machine) and he rolled his eyes and said he technically wasn't supposed to. I get that it wasn't their fault that the machines broke down but the way that particular employee handled it was rude; it wasn't our fault either.
The final straw was that I got up to order a shake as my friends had said they were good. There were about 6 or 7 people in front of me and I waited at least another 15-20 minutes to place my order. While I was in line I noticed the ice cream from the machine wasn't thick, it was actually pouring out very runny but I assumed it was just that machine and they'd pour it from a different one. Nope...I waited another 5-10 minutes for my shake at my table and when it arrived you would've thought it'd been sitting out a while. It was basically liquid and warm aside from being ridiculously sweet.
First and...
