Positive(s): Assa has good customer service even on a Sunday evening when most do not want to be at work I am sureā¦he services well. The atmosphere is nice and they play zydeco music, baybay! I have not heard zydeco in the Midwest but heard it there and there that was a pleasure to the ears. I like the restaurant style too.
Now the food. OMG! I ordered the feast and then because my baby has yet to try other fish I ordered salmon. The piece of salmon by itself was $14.99 which was a bit steep BUT thatās the only thing that was worth the money. The dish I had tasted like it was cooked in OLD oil. And yes I told the staff I was not pleased with my meal. Now did I eat it, unfortunately the did and will pay for the stomach ache later but by time the manager came to inquire and offer something my food was pretty much done and I did not want to be that āBROWN personā that is trying to get something compensated even though that should have been. People who cook and study culinary know old grease and old food when they taste it. The meal came with hush puppies, fish and chips, fried shrimp and fries. In the photo you will see the fries and I had NOT eaten but one because the fries were at the bottom and when I moved my fish I seen the little amount that will be shown. This was a $50 plus tip spend that I will NOT encourage anyone to waste their money on. The spicy NāOrleans sauce tastes like some thin gravy that was over salted. Spiceā¦no. Maybe it was the cook. Maybe it was a bad night but unless someone sending a free gift card or inviting me on their dime NO TO THE HELL NO I will not waste my hard earned money here again.

Iām wondering if I can get a call back from somebody. Iām reaching out because I took my wife and her family out Friday night and we stopped here before our show. We had 2 hours to kill and love this place. We were seated quickly that was no problem. However once seated we werenāt acknowledged for over 20 minutes by a different waitress than ours. She took our drink order and was scolded by our waitress for helping āher tableā even though she never introduced herself until well after our drinks arrived. Refills didnāt happen and the offer of another round didnāt happen. it took 3 different waitresses and a manager to help us. We only saw our waitress once when she took our order and didnāt see her again until she took our money (which I should add she didnāt actually give us our check). I could deal with all of this. The fighting and the lack of customer service and the multiple different people helping us because the food was amazing. The problem is 3 out of the 6 people in my party came down with food poisoning near the end of the night into the next day. We called the location and it was met with skepticism and a have a good night. No apology and no offer of even a discount for our next visit. There was very little done to even explain why our visit was so unlike any time Iāve ever been there. I just wanted to reach out because I love this restaurant. I am not the kind of guy to write a review. I usually just never go back and tell all my friends the experience I had but Iām really trying to understand what happened. The only saving grace was the food was awesome, but we wouldn't have been able to tell anyone if it was good or not because the kitchen staff delivered it and nobody came back to see if we needed anything. Had this place been busy, it would have been more forgivable. When you dine in a restaurant you shouldn't have to wave for your life after your glass has been empty on the side of the table for 10 minutes, just for your server to come to your table and give you the annoyed "yesss?" look. We were seated, waited for quite a while for anyone to come to begin with. We ordered and food came quickly..and then we watched staff walking around, huddled by the entrance, one checking her phone plugged into an outlet by the table next to us and were left to fend for ourselves. We were only able to flag down for 1 refill for one of our drinks, any others we would have had to go wait at the bar or fill them ourselves. We were visibly done eating and I ended up having to go ask for our bill. The only person working who was kind was a young man with longer hair, he couldn't print our bill, so he asked the manager as I was standing by the bar away from our table for the bill. Eventually the server printed it put it in a folder and handed it off without saying a word. I could see that behavior if I was obnoxious about the lack of service, but I literally just asked for our bill because we had been done for quite some time.
