I have been working at the Mall of America for the last three years and have eaten at DeLeo Bros. Pizza multiple times. The customer service and food quality have always been good—until recently.
On Saturday, September 28th, while I was at work, one of my co-workers went on her break to DeLeo Bros. Pizza, as she often does. She always shares how nice the employees are and how good the food is. However, she returned without any food. Shortly after, the manager from DeLeo came into our store and asked to speak with our manager, who was assisting a guest at the cash register.
The DeLeo manager proceeded to yell at my manager, claiming that he would have to fire one of his employees due to an issue related to the mall discount. He then threw a pizza on the counter and walked out. My co-worker followed him to understand why he was so upset, but he told her he was done speaking to her.
When she returned, I asked what had happened. She explained that she had asked for extra cheese on her pizza. The original price was $5, but with the extra cheese, it came to $9. She mentioned that she worked at the mall and inquired if she could receive the mall discount, which is her right as a mall employee. The manager became upset about this and she left without her pizza.
I have worked at the mall for three years and have never seen a manager behave this way. His actions were extremely disrespectful, not only to my co-worker but also to my manager. I will no longer be eating at DeLeo Bros. Pizza. It’s unacceptable for a manager to threaten to fire an employee over a piece of pizza. If you're at the Mall of America and looking for pizza, I recommend avoiding DeLeo Bros. Pizza—they do not treat their...
Read moreThis used to be the villa. They had the best pizza in the MOA. The pizza was super tasty. I bought 2 whole pies. The reason for the 2 stars was for the customer service of employees and manager. When they brought the pizza pies to my table the employee knocked a slice onto the table cheese side down. He didn't bother to pick it up or ask to take it away or offer to replace the slice he just knocked down. When they came around I asked if they can replace the slice. They took the slice and brought it back heated a bit in the oven. I noticed it was the same slice cause when it fell it was missing some cheese and where it was grabbed it had an indent of the finger. I went to the manager and told him that they served me the same slice and there were many customers in line.. He stated he would never do that but I saw it was the same slice just thrown back in the oven. He could have just grabbed a cold slice from the counter but he rather be sneeky and give me that same slice. Maybe it was because I'm not Caucasian. Regardless, I just left that slice there after finishing the pies and with so many places to eat at MOA, don't need to be disrespected, when the employee dropped my food and doesn't even apologize or offer to replace, and only acts like they do so after I told them I'm not going to eat that slice they dropped on the table. And they charge...
Read moreI'd let myself get morbidly obese over this pizza. Is a legitimate thought I had while eating the pepperoni pizza. I HARDLY ever give a 5 star review. There is just always something to fix. I have NO complaints. Mind you all I had was a slice of pepperoni pizza BUT I wish I had room for more. I am so sad to know that was the first and last time I'll have their pizza.... it's definitely worth being in more places than just here. Okay okay back to the actual experience. The neat part is they have all the pizza on display and then reheat it. The best part about that is the nice crunch the bread gets. They must have gone to a world renown spice school because they truly hit the mark with the sauce and pepperoni. Everything was a nice mixture of texture, flavor, and portion. The atmosphere is almost as good as the pizza. Make sure to bring some coins for the fun arcade games. Mostly make sure to take the time to look around..there are so many neat old school posters. I met the owner who is a proud man as he should be, just don't ask him for ranch 😉 He'll tell you what a disgrace to pizza ranch is in a classic proud Italian way. Again I can't think of any complains. Aside from wishing I had more room and money for more. Please please please if you expand, come to...
