Donât walk, RUN to The Roti Stop. Bring a friend, bring a date, bring your entire extended family. It doesnât matter. What matters is that you try the doubles. Because after one bite, youâll realize everything youâve eaten before was merely preparation for this moment of glory.
First off, the bara (fried dough) was so light and fluffy it couldâve been a pillow. If youâve ever wanted to sleep on a cloud, but were worried about a lack of carbs, this is your dream come true. I bit into it, and it was like biting into the softest, warmest, most comforting thing since your grandmaâs hug. But itâs better because it has curry and chana (chickpeas), and grandmaâs hugs donât come with that.
And speaking of curry, I thought I had tasted curry before. I was wrong. This curry was an experience. It wasnât just curry; it was like the curry had lived a thousand lifetimes of flavor and then, in its final form, chose to bless my tastebuds with everything it had learned in its journey. Bold, spicy, and yet somehow soft enough to make me want to eat 17 doubles.
And the chana? Oh, my friends. These chickpeas were cooked with such care, Iâm convinced the chef gave them pep talks before they hit the pot. You could taste the love, the attention, the carefully curated spice. Each bite was a journey, and at the end of it, I found myself considering whether or not I was being wooed by a chickpea. Spoiler: I was.
Now, letâs talk pepper sauce. THE PEPPER SAUCEâitâs like a delicate handshake between spicy and tangy, with a sneaky, subtle sweetness that could easily trick you into eating five doubles before you realize your mouth is on fire. But it's the good kind of fire. The kind that makes you question your life choices in the best possible way.
Spoiler alert: I had to post a picture of someone else's doubles because by the time I thought to take one of mine, it was already gone. Devoured. Vanished into the abyss of my stomach. I swear, one minute it was there, and the next it was just... gone. Time stopped. The universe paused. The doubles were eaten that quickly. You can't even be mad at me for not getting the photoâI was busy in a blissful state of absolute culinary euphoria.
In conclusion: 10/10 would recommendâjust maybe bring someone because youâll need help finishing, or at least someone to wipe the tears of joy...

We stop in at The ROTI STOP and I had the chicken Roti with medium peppers and it was one of the best meals I've ever had in my life the restaurant was small but comfortable, pictures of musicians covered the wall The mighty Shadow, The Mighty Sparrow, lord Kitchener, David Rutte, we met the owner khmey, and Charlotte they were awesome! They explain the menu explaining meals so we was very clear on what we was ordering. And their descriptions was on point. I love the food that I had and I will definitely be back again to get more. I'm here for 4 days and I'm going to have this meal all 4 days and I'm here, I don't think I describe the meal. It's hard to explain or to put in words. It's a mixture of a pot pie, stew, with curry season Pizza. Puff not fried The different meals is chicken, beef, shrimp, goat and conch. I never had Caribbean Trinidadian food before and I tell you this is the best that...
Read moreTastes like Trini homemade! The flatbread for the doubles is so good, and reheat well in pan on stove top. The chickpea filling is not hot spicy unless you get pepper, and the pepper sauce packs LOTS of heat!
The chickpea filling is vegan, and is seasoned with traditional Trinidad green seasoning. One double makes a great snack or tasting portion, but if you're really hungry, order several. If you add meat, there's an uncharge.
Love the decor with photos of legendary calypsonians. Such a great...
