went to Mikey’s on 4th. I ordered a vegan pep for myself which I clearly stated “vegan pepperoni”. asked for a vegan ranch as well. was with a non-vegan friend but after some time looking, was willing to try the vegan chkn, so I told the guy I want a vegan chkn as well. he rings me up & I get the pizzas. I’m hungry so I start eating as soon as we’re in the car. I take a bite, look down after a couple chews & realize it’s a regular pepperoni pizza. I immediately go back in & the guy who took my order starts walking toward the bar area, facing away from me.😂 so a lady near the oven asks what I’d like and I told her a slice of vegan pepperoni because this as I place the plate down isn’t vegan. she puts a slice of vegan in the oven & I realize she grabbed it from the top of the rack, yet the dude who gave me my slice grabbed it from toward the bottom. So I ask her does he not know where the vegan pizza is on the rack.. she’s confused. So I look his way to ask him & he has a smirk on his face but seeing how mad I am, fixes it. I ask him does he not know where the vegan pizza is on there & he says “oh I thought u ordered regular my bad” and starts walking away. this man rang me up for nothing but vegan items, i watched the screen as he rang it up. big guy with dark beard and a good amount of hair on his head. I chose to stay calm as I’m used to being tested by people for no reason but this really has irritated me I can’t lie. not sure what his issue is but beware! Management will be spoken to and emails will be sent. An individual like this should not be serving people their food. what if I was allergic? anything could’ve happened.
UPDATE: HR contacted me and proceeds to tell me the two lowlife individuals that treated me poorly are “not like that” as he’s worked around them before…. As if we all don’t get our act together when higher-ups are in the building 🤯 on to after I spread the word in my vegan group on Facebook, this company got so mad that it got attention, they got my account disabled!!!!!! so sad. they chose to tell me the fact that the large white guy chose to disrespect me every time I’ve entered the establishment doesn’t stem from him being racist. TOO BAD HE IS!!! Mikey’s is upset that not everyone of their race is racist nowadays and that they have lost their customers due to how they treated me, so they resort to the only thing they can do, lie and report a Facebook page 😩 good luck to you Mikey’s, I’ll be leaving a review EVERYWHERE. & BBB will be contacted...
Read moreI ate a delicious "early supper" recently [2-1-2023] at the Mikey's Late Night Slice pizza restaurant at 268 S. Fourth St. in downtown Columbus.
The Columbus Vegan Meetup group had scheduled a "Kind Meals Pizza Party" several days later at that location so I had decided that I would visit that location, several days before that pizza party, while on my way to a different pizza party elsewhere in downtown Columbus.
My main experience of Mikey's Late Night Slice over the years has always been to walk past a "Mikey's Late Night Slice" food truck in the Short North [but never order any food there]. It had been great to be able to eat Mikey's Late Night Slice pizza at a "brick and mortar" location [where I would be able to sit own -- inside -- to eat my pizza].
My food choice while at Mikey's Late Night Slice had been two slices of pizza: "Cheese With Fresh Basil" and "Spicy Pepperoni with Sirracha." My meal had been quite delicious and had been far more "filling" than I had expected.
The woman behind the counter offered to cut my two absolutely huge pieces of pizza into three smaller pieces [long skinny triangles with slightly-curved tops]. Those long skinny triangles had been far easier to eat "by hand" than it would have been for me to eat large pieces of pizza "by hand."
When leaving Mikey's Late Night Slice and preparing to walk to my next destination, I looked down and noticed the word "Zettler" on the pavement near the front door.
I immediately remembered Zettler Hardware [that I later had been able to confirm, after having done some on-line research, had been at that location many years ago].
The building had been built in 1880 for the Zettler Grocery Co. In 1925, Zettler Hardware moved into that building; in 1940, Zettler Hardware moved out.
The building has since been sold and is no longer owned by the Zettler Hardware company but the word "Zettler" still appears on the pavement near the front door.
If you are in downtown Columbus and are looking for some delicious pizza, I recommend the Mikey's Late Night Slice pizza restaurant at 268...
Read moreThanks again for reaching out to encourage me to give Mikeys another shot. It was worth it.
Maybe it's because they were almost closed. Maybe it's because I was drunk (honestly I thought being drunk would make it taste better). The pizza was extra dry and I didn't want sauce. The crust is usually one of my favorite parts but this was the worst crust ever. Dry with no flavor, I guess the sauces would have come in handy here. I'll give them another shot because, in Columbus, they're legendary, but I was disappointed because I haven't eaten here in over 5 years. Next time I stop in I'll come a lot earlier when they're cranking...
