Closest thing to coffee paradise in the city! White Rhino is revolutionizing coffee shops across the Dallas area. I've been to the Waxahachie location and enjoyed my visit there. My girlfriend and I decided to try out this new location in uptown and it's my new favorite! I was thoroughly impressed with absolutely everything going on at White Rhino. Stellar coffee, comfortable lounging, and a quality menu! They also allow dogs and provide doggie treats. We went in the morning (right before peak time). I recommend going in the morning since the parking gets a little tight due to the location being located in a residential area. The staff was very friendly and patient with us. We decided to build our own scramble with mushrooms, roasted red peppers, spinach and breakfast potato toes - YUM!! They give a variety of options so I highly recommend to build your own scramble. My girlfriend ordered a matcha drink and I got the Whole Latte Love with honey & lavender. They provide a small iron skillet for your scramble so it makes it easy to carry and keeps it a bit warm! The couches were also pretty comfortable and makes a great area for a study date or meet up area! Everything White Rhino offers you can tel they make it with a Whole Latte Love :) My girlfriend also has a few thoughts on this White Rhino location and our experience as a whole:
"I have been to other White Rhino locations, but I had never been to this location in Dallas. I have to say, it is my favorite so far! I have always loved the coffee but have especially been impressed with the food menu. You can tell they put a lot of thought into the menu and the food is always great quality! It is rare to find that at a coffee shop. I ordered an iced matcha to drink, which was pre-sweetened (I usually prefer unsweetened matcha, but it was still a good quality so I went for it!) and then we shared the egg skillet dish with potatoes, spinach, red pepper, and mushrooms. It was delicious! We enjoyed the bountiful comfy seating on the second floor and had the best morning together. I highly recommend this spot if you want a nice place to meet a friend or have a...
Read moreService is clearly not their forté! Great location and a nice shop with ample seating even at super busy times. But a bunch of different interactions with a bunch of different employees on my first visit left a bad taste in my mouth. When ordering, my S/O and I were both informed very directly they were out of the drinks we wanted. What we ended up ordering was still good, though. Food and drink pickup was disjointed too, just seems there isn't much intentionality with the whole process. Then when we were leaving an employee just out of the blue said they were about to call to have our cars towed. We parked behind the shop, in the uncovered spots. There were no signs in those spots that would indicate it was a tow zone and paint on the pavement was worn so much that you could make out “towing enforced” just barely on one of the spots. Apparently those spots were really “important” just not important enough for proper signage. If I couldn’t read the paint in my sedan, just imagine how difficult it'd be for someone pulling up in a lifted 2500 HD crew cab!
For transparency, when I pull up to Dutch Bros. and they start a full on therapy session in the drive through I'm uncomfy. There's a happy medium somewhere in the world of coffee shop customer service. Unfortunately White Rhino...
Read moreI found this to be one of the more frustrating coffee experiences I’ve had. From a location and atmosphere perspective it is great. Lots of life and locals on Saturday mornings sitting and enjoying coffee. It seemed like a great spot to try.
From a cafe/coffee perspective, I will not be back. I was surprised for a coffee shop at their inability to make and process coffee orders. It was by no means swamped when I ordered yet it took nearly 15 minutes to get my cappuccino. They have just one smaller espresso machine (perhaps with a single espresso head) and the barista couldn’t seem to pull more than one shot at time, backing up throughput.
To add frustration to my already long wait the coffee I received appeared to be short poured - but the barista said that their cappuccinos are only 6oz but they serve them in 8oz cups. If they drink had a modicum of foam that would have been understandable. However I received a wet 6oz latte, nowhere near what a cappuccino should be due to the fact they use automatic steam wands rather than texturizing the milk properly. The taste of the coffee was average.
Needless to say I was disappointed and will be looking for other coffee options...
