Professional Review – Henry’s Tavern (Saturday Evening Visit) I visited Henry’s Tavern on a Saturday night, a time when you'd expect a restaurant to be operating at its best — fully staffed, energized, and ready to handle the evening crowd. Unfortunately, what I experienced was quite the opposite and deeply disappointing. From the moment we walked in, the tone was set by a rude and visibly uninterested hostess. I greeted her politely and informed her of our party size, but she barely acknowledged me, said nothing welcoming, and instead raised a fan to her face with an annoyed "okay." There was no smile, no greeting, and no professionalism — it felt like she didn’t want to be there at all. The only time she seemed remotely engaged or cheerful was when she was flirting with one of the waiters, completely ignoring the fact that guests were entering and waiting to be seated. This level of disinterest at the front of house is unacceptable, especially on a busy weekend night. Once seated, the service unfortunately didn’t improve. Our waiter took an unusually long time to approach our table, and even then, service was inattentive and slow. Drink and food orders took far too long to arrive, and no one communicated any delays or offered an apology. When we needed refills or wanted to order additional items, we had to walk to the bar ourselves, as the staff was nowhere to be found or simply ignoring tables. To make matters worse, the restaurant lacked basic cleanliness and operational oversight. Tables remained unbussed, restrooms were untidy with paper on the floor, and staff members carried themselves as if they were irritated to be working. If there was a manager on duty, they made no effort to engage with guests or correct any of the clear service breakdowns. When one did deliver food, they simply dropped it off and walked away, ignoring our requests. The most disappointing part of all this is that the food itself was excellent — flavorful, well-prepared, and deserving of praise. But even great food can’t make up for poor service, disorganization, and an unwelcoming atmosphere. For a Saturday evening — arguably one of the most important nights in hospitality — the lack of care, focus, and respect for the customer was alarming. Henry’s Tavern seriously needs to reevaluate its front-of-house operations. Until there’s a major improvement in service, I cannot recommend this location. Guests deserve better — especially on a night when expectations are at their highest.

Edit - The Bartenders here are terrible!! They walk around looking at their feet. HEADS UP PEOPLE!!! Your customers are thirsty! Meh. Gastropub, i suppose.. 🤷‍♂️ Reading the owners "about" info, i mean I guess they have it marketed the right away: sports bar-"ish". Essentially its burgers and beers in a nice "warehousy" brick facade on the 16th street mall. So in other words, $7 bucks for a pint, $14 bucks for a cocktail like an old fashioned or vodka tonic (which sadly has become the norm). Another $18 bucks for a prime rib dip with french fries, or a burger, or fish and chips......etc,etc,etc. At least give me something outstanding or original. Its all pretty much the same stuff as everywhere else. Just a few bucks more, cause of the location.. Service was terrible. I sat at the bar because there was a small wait for a table. But it cleared out after the rush pretty quickly. It just seemed like the bartenders were more interested in the lovely ladies sitting next to me. I mean, you can pretty easily see where a guys eyes are going. I was passed up several times when i was trying to get silverware for my food and another beer. Look - the food was fine and the atmosphere was fine. Im sure it would be a great place for a game, and its (sadly) better than a ton of places in downtown Denver. Bottom line - I'd probably come back. But my expectations would be about as low as the bar is for service.

I stopped in for a late lunch during Henry's happy hour. The person working the check in table asked if I'd be happy sitting at the bar, and I was considering I was there alone. I sat at the bar and it took awhile before the bartender got to me and despite not many people being there, he looked overwhelmed. I ordered a beer and wings. The food came out fairly quickly and the wings were amazing. They were big, cooked just right, and I was impressed. When I got my check, I had been charged full price for the wings instead of the happy hour price, so I asked for it to be corrected. The bartender apologized and made the correction. Overall, I think Henry's would be a fun place to visit with friends, they have shuffleboard, and other games and the venue is really big so I imagine it gets pretty busy during sporting events and on weekends. Overall, as a daytime visit, I wasn't overly impressed, but I wasn't disappointed either. 4 stars because I see the potential of the place and think I may have just visited at an odd time. I love that they are able to pull up the sides of the building so people can sit at tables inside but still be completely open to the outside. Location is perfect for people watch.

The absolute worse place ever. The service is always bad but the chicken Alfredo is okay but I kinda like it, just a little bit though and only sometimes. Lmaoo weird but whatever. We’ve always sat at the bar. Tonight was the absolute worse experience ever. The darker hair kinda reddish hair girl we’ve only seen there three times now in the past four months was absolutely awful. My chicken Alfredo had no sauce. None at all. I asked for more sauce and she brings me a bowl of COLD ALFREDO. Straight out of the fridge. I’ve been working as a bartender and server for 19 years, it’s all I know. I know sauce out of the fridge. It was THREE hours before close. Why are you bringing me cold Alfredo my HOT ENTREE. Right before close yah whatever, I would’ve come home and heated it up. I know how restaurants can be. But three hours before close? You bring me a bowl of cold Alfredo for my hot entree. Her attitude was SOOO BAD. We still tipped 25% because we’re in the industry and believing karma. Complete wasted of $150 total. We will NEVER GO BACK. This place has been a waste of our money the past every single time we’ve been but we always try again. After today spending $150 total Henry’s Tavern just lost customers. We’ll never give them another dollar. All it took was heating up the Alfredo and we would’ve come back and shook off whatever else went wrong as we always do. When this bartender wasn’t working anyways. She’s been awful to us three times now and never again will I feel obligated to tip her again because of “karma” Little does she know we tip 50% at the very least everywhere we go because we’re in the industry and we want to make someone’s day/night! The drinks were absolutely horrid. The worse White Russian I’ve ever had. Don’t support this place! They already get little to no business as it is and I see WHY. Every time we’ve went in there after work nearby we’re like they’re so dead no business at all. No wonder! There is one guy there that’s always been good to us which is why we’ve come back many times over the past few months. I hope he finds another job because he’s better than Henry’s Tavern! The new short haired girl who always wears wigs, doesn’t say one word to anyone and has such a miserable look on her face all the time. We get you girl! We see why you’re so miserable and hate your life there. I hate to talk so badly about a restaurant as I’ve said before I’ve worked in one for 19 years. But tonight was the end of my straw with this place. I’ve never felt like I’ve wasted my money quite so badly until tonight. The french dip was cold, cheese wasn’t even melt was almost as bad as bringing me cold Alfredo for my hot entree that had zero sauce three hours before close. We had the fish tacos once before and wore idea ever. They double it up with tortillas just to fill you up but there’s so much tortilla there’s zero flavor. Lmaooo Henry’s Tavern is the worse ever! Do better. You’re on 16th and have potential but you screwed up. Time and time again. Bye bye Henry’s tavern. Never again. We do hope to see that one guy bartender somewhere along the way, at a new job sometime! He’s awesome! The darker haired kinda reddish color that worked tonight noooooo! I’ve never had a worse bartender at any restaurant anywhere. She ran us off FOR GOOD. It was the darker reddish haired girl tonight and the new bartender that wear wigs. Just for reference if anyone at Henry’s sees this it’s August 10th, 2025. Now you know which bartenders I’m talking about. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ If you didn’t know already. I’ve never seen any other bartenders to match this description but I want y’all to knowwww! It...

credit card fraud by the server!!! disappointed with entire experience from wait time (was not busy at 4 on Sunday when we arrived), ordering beverages and appetizer took over 20 minutes, got wrong beverage (beer) 1st time and we didn’t complain and the 2nd beer was correct, pretzel came right before food and was good but not hot/warm, had to ask multiple times for water refills, which got filled only once, never got my soda refill and asked, one meal had onions and asked for no onions and meal (jambalaya) couldn't be fixed and so one person in our party didn’t get a meal as it took so long and we didn’t have time to order something different. we had show tickets for 6:30 and at 5:50 attempted to ask for ticket and server was no place to be found. finally server returned, only after we asked another server that we needed our ticket. got our ticket at 6 pm and told our server we needed ticket asap as we needed to be at a show, took another 15 minutes. we didn’t leave Henry’s tavern until 6:15 and had to walk 8-10 blocks to our destination. i understand employees have bad days, mistakes happen and we were not rude or disrespectful to the server as we wanted to enjoy our outing in denver as we travelled over 2 hours to Denver that day. we were a party of 4 adults. sadly, i did not leave a tip and marked a zero through tip line with total. the receipt shows “suggested gratuity”. it’s unfortunate as i’m not sure tips at henry’s tavern are group or individual, so others (hostess, chefs, bartenders) could be impacted by one server. we would have asked to speak to a manager but didn’t have time. i find 3 days later on my bank statement that the server “gave” himself a 20% tip not authorized by me and the transaction showed completed. i began on 3/13/24 to contact henry’s tavern only to be frustrated that nobody answered the phone (for over a 3 hour period of time) for reservations, orders, etc. after research, i find out the number on their receipt is wrong. finally later that day, i get a different number and was in correspondence with the manager (multiple times over a period of 3 days) and he listened to my complaint, would follow up and was respectful and apologetic and was timely to my correspondence, and was told i would get my tip back since it wasn’t authorized and could be 2-3 business days to process. as of late yesterday (3/20/24), 7 days later from my initial contact on 3/13/24, nothing was still done to credit my account for just the tip. i was not asking for anything else, was respectful and trying to just resolve the issue due to the principle of the issue. fraud was done by this server. i will be respectful of not providing names though would NOT recommend Henry’s tavern in denver as there are SO many other options in the area. i had to end up making a dispute with my bank today regarding this tip transaction since it is credit card fraud. so very disappointed and mad!!! maybe this was an isolated incident with this server and maybe not. above all, it was wrong and i have tried to be respectful with the manager, follow protocol with the merchant with no timely resolution to my complaint so the bank will need to investigate this...

I try to be one to reserve reviews for those times when service or product is exceptional, but this is not one of those reviews. My team made a reservation at Henry's Tavern for lunch during an event at the convention center as it was only a 2 block walk; that said, this venue should be used to lunch rush during convention events; we arrived 10 minutes early and they were not open yet, no problem, we waited. By the time they opened the doors 5 minutes after their scheduled opening a medium sized group had accumulated and were all waiting to get in. Once open, we were seated promptly and our server greeted us with in less than 5 minutes and brought menus. We then placed drink orders, 4 sodas and a mocktail. It took at least 15 minutes for the drinks to arrive and nearly 30 minutes for the mocktail. They did deliver a pitcher of water so that we were able to refill ourselves with water, a great idea during a busy time, but the soft drinks were never offered to be refilled the entire duration of our dining experience. As I said, a lot of tables were sat at once, so understandably chaotic. We awaited our turn to order and all was going fine enough for the volume they were accommodating. We ordered salads, chicken sandwiches and appetizers. When the appetizers were delivered, we received a huge eye roll, dramatic body language and an audible UGH when we asked for plates for said appetizer. Around the restaurant, the only food delivered to any of the tables in sight for the first hour and a half were appetizers, no one in the restaurant received a meal or a refill on beverages for the first 90 minutes. Once the food came, it was cold, and this isn't due to all the orders coming out at once as we only saw one other order come out of the kitchen with in 15 minutes before or after ours. One of the meals wasn't delivered for another 20 minutes after the rest of the table got food. The server even delivered the checks to all tables in the restaurant before any food came out and with out offering to refill any drinks. The service interaction was poor amongst the 3 different staff members we engaged with and not one tried to offer any kind of explanation or apology. Now we bring in the food. The lettuce on the salad had that awful bitter taste of bad lettuce, the toppings were minimal at best, the chicken sandwiches were cold and missing any dressing, the fries were cold, and the Ahi on one salad had a very pungent aroma, so against best judgement we sent it back requesting more searing as a precaution. It came back worse than before. The odor of the fish was so pungently bad that the next table could be heard commenting on the smell. Despite not eating much of the food presented and paying full price plus a generous tip, 4 of the 5 in our party are now experiencing food poising. With such a horrible experience on both the service and the food I can promise I won't be back and would highly encourage ownership to do a deep dive here as this is a charming restaurant in a prime location, but the food and service are not adding any value to...
