If you’re in Denver and looking for a place that serves authentic, flavor-packed Mexican food with an energetic, welcoming vibe, then stop what you’re doing and head straight to Que Rico. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was electric—warm lighting, lively music, the scent of grilled meats and fresh spices in the air—and it just kept getting better from there.
Let’s talk about the food, because wow… Every single dish we ordered was a home run. The carne asada tacos were grilled to perfection with just the right amount of char and seasoning—juicy, tender, and flavorful. The birria was absolutely out of this world: slow-cooked, deeply savory, and served with a consommé that could honestly be bottled and sold on its own. We also tried the chile relleno, and it had the perfect balance of crispy outside and creamy, cheesy interior, with a hint of heat that didn’t overpower the flavor.
Now, let me rave for a moment about the margaritas. I’ve had margaritas from coast to coast, but Que Rico’s are in a league of their own. Whether you go for classic lime, mango-chile, or cucumber-jalapeño, they’re mixed with care—never too sweet, never too sour, just strong enough to remind you you’re here to unwind. My personal favorite was the passion fruit margarita, which was as refreshing as it was dangerously delicious. And the presentation? Picture-worthy, every time.
Beyond the food and drinks, what really elevated the experience was the exceptional service, and that’s thanks in large part to Gustavo, the manager. From the moment we arrived, he was the heartbeat of the restaurant—checking in with guests, making sure tables were comfortable, and genuinely making everyone feel like family. His charisma, attention to detail, and passion for the restaurant were unmistakable. Gustavo doesn’t just manage the place—he embodies it.
He came by our table not once, but several times to make sure we were enjoying everything, and when he noticed it was a friend’s birthday, he personally brought out a surprise dessert with a candle and had the entire staff join in singing. That kind of personal touch is rare, and it’s why Que Rico stands out from every other restaurant in town.
I’ve dined at plenty of Mexican restaurants across the country, but Que Rico is something special. It’s not just about food—it’s about experience, energy, and hospitality. Whether you’re here for a casual taco Tuesday, a celebration with friends, or a date night with someone special, Que Rico delivers every single time.
Five stars, without a doubt. Thank you to Gustavo and the entire team for an unforgettable evening. We’ll absolutely be back—probably sooner than we...
Read moreMy husband and I love this place and I am so disappointed with my experience today because everytime we dine here we have great service. Servers are amazing and food is really good.
Today, like every other sunday, we had brunch and honestly the worst service I've ever had. This is my first time not tipping at all because he was rude and condescending. First he came in with the worst attitude to ask about if we wanted service in english or spanish and how our bills were going to be seperated. All fine, then he took our order still with this attitude and forgot to ask how we would like our eggs and came 10 minutes later to ask (?) After 20ish minutes our food is ready and one of my friends asked for his Agua Fresca (that he ordered with his food) and he asked: did you order an Agua Fresca??? He said yes and he ROLLED HIS EYES and ask what type of agua he'll like. Still I wasn't annoyed and I was willing to let it go, but after we finished our food we where just chilling and the only table at this point. We didn't ask for the check at all and he just came to me and put the POS on the table, not a receipt, just a POS saying the total amount. I couldn't see the itemized ticket at all and I'll repeat that we didn't ask for the check at all. Its was maybe 10 minutes after they took our plates away (Shoutout to vanessa for being the kindest, taking our plates away and checking on us after this awful service we had).
Then I paid, click no tip because we always tip in cash (I was a server myself so I like to tip in cash always). He took the POS, asked if I wanted a receipt I said no thank you and he came to me with the receipt and angrily said: here's your receipt and tip is not included. I was going to tip you in cash but you know what? Not anymore.
Such a disappointment after having great service everytime we come in...
Read moreThe food at Qué Rico Mexican Restaurant was actually very good — flavorful and well-cooked — but unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired.
Our server never came back to check on our table after taking our order. We waited quite a while on drinks, and I eventually had to get up and go to the bar myself to ask for someone to come over and help with refills. Meanwhile, our server was sitting and chatting with people outside rather than attending to tables. It was frustrating and disappointing.
As for value — we ordered the fajitas for two, which cost $38, but honestly, the portion size was barely enough for one person. When we asked if we could just add steak to the fajitas, we were told it would be an additional $10. When the bill came, it was closer to $15. That kind of surprise charge, especially on top of already small portions, left a bad impression.
The kitchen seems to be doing their part — the food itself is solid — but the restaurant has a lot to learn when it comes to service and being upfront about pricing. For what you're paying, the portions and hospitality just don't match up. Not sure I’d return unless major...
