We recently dined at the Million Dollar Steakhouse, and while the food itself was quite good, the overall experience did not reflect the hefty price tag of over $100 per person.
The meal was cooked well, with good quality ingredients and a simple presentation. Everything is à la carte, as expected at this price point. The bread and butter were a nice touch, and my Manhattan cocktail was excellent. Unfortunately, my husband's drink order was mishandled twice; he ordered a Pendleton and Coke and first received Pendleton and 7Up, and then Pendleton and Dr. Pepper. These may seem like small mistakes, but they added to a growing sense of carelessness.
The real issue, however, was the service and overall professionalism of the staff...or lack there of. When we arrived, we passed a wall of expensive wines, only to be greeted by a hostess loudly flirting with a man around the corner. Their conversation was wildly inappropriate, involving him making comments about “her being blessed with junk in the trunk.” She was dressed unprofessionally in white capri sweatpants and a hot pink shirt, and tennis shoes, which only emphasized the lack of formality.
As the night progressed, we realized the man she was speaking with was not a guest, but the manager... raising serious concerns about the tone being set for the entire staff. While our own server was polite, attentive, and carried herself professionally (and may have been the subject of inappropriate jokes we overheard from the male staff), the rest of the team behaved more like they were working at a casual chain restaurant. From the dining room, we could see and hear into the back hall where staff were goofing off, man handling each other, cracking jokes, and making fun of someone with what seemed to be a mocking tone toward “Polish” people.
Although the food was enjoyable, the unprofessional and inappropriate behavior from the staff made this experience uncomfortable and disappointing. At this price point, I expected refined service and a classy atmosphere. Instead, it felt chaotic, immature, and unworthy of any fine dining label. I cannot recommend this restaurant until serious changes are made to the staff culture and...
Read moreWe went in June 2025 with online reservations. We were promptly seated, then re-seated as we don’t like tables where one person is on a long bench seat and the other is across the table (and they can stack multiple tables in a row). We were moved to a table in the middle of the room which was fine.
The service was excellent. Our waitress Loretta took the time to chat with us (learning a little about us, and we learned about her! Hi to her golden retriever “Cody” by the way!). She gave great suggestions for the meal…from restaurant favorites to featured entrees (everything is A La Carte!). The meal was not rushed, and we had great service as well from the assistants make sure glasses were full and dishes picked up promptly when finished.
The food was very good. As might see in our picture, we enjoyed elk tenderloin, a huckleberry sauce duck and grilled asparagus. All were excellent! Forgot to take a picture of the coconut shrimp! Wow! HUGE and tasty!
Finally we need to bring up Chris, the manager. Ok, why the manager? Because he’s good at what he does! He is at every table, several times during the meal, conversing with you but more importantly, making sure you are absolutely happy! (Since Covid, it seems the only time you see a manager is when you request them for a problem!). What’s his goal? He wants you to come back!!! Fun to talk with and watching his work ethic was enjoyable (now who says that?!!!)
Ok, I do have one negative. Again, I’m being honest. Pricing. The Elk tenderloin was $61. The duck was $39 and the 10 pieces of asparagus were $15. The 3 jumbo coconut shrimp were $18. The glass of fairly common Chardonnay was $16. A can of local beer was probably the most fairly priced at $8. Most entrees were minimum $40+ and again this is a la Carte.
Will we return? Yes, but a little more prepared for prices (hence 4 out of 5 stars). There are a lot of restaurants in town. Some have better prices. Some the same....
Read moreNot a good experience at all. Seated quickly, but at least ten minutes to be acknowledged, yet our server, Vincent, was standing a few feet away and typing on a handheld device.
He would say something to us as he quickly walked past, such as to ask about drinks or apps or food, then disappear for ten minutes. Then he'd appear on the side of the dining room typing for several minutes on his device, maybe drop something at our table and take off without asking if we were fine or if we needed anything else. We had to flag him down and ask for bread.
Vincent has absolutely no time for us at all, yet he was very attentive to a group of six guys sitting behind us that were talking about real estate. A couple of his other tables seemed to be getting ignored also.
The food, two smash burgers, was pretty basic, but we're lucky they okay because Vincent was nowhere to check on us anyway.
However, when it came time to pay, Vincent had all the time in the world. He swiped my card and held the payment device for me. He brought up the tip page, which only has options for 20%, 25%, and 28%. 😂😂😂 He made sure to hold it in front of me so we both could see the tip page and he looked back and forth between me and the tip screen a couple times. Seriously??!! Supervising my tip selection!! 😂😂
Avoid the Cowboy restaurant and bar, the locals do. It's a tourist trap and overpriced. You WILL BE...
