We were there yesterday and were very impressed. They were extremely busy so we had to wait about a half hour for a table but it was worth it. The (hostess?) was very nice and friendly and our server was great even though she was obviously slammed. The food exceeded expectations. My husband (who is from the south) said the biscuits and gravy were the best he had ever eaten. My Denver omelet was excellent and everyone else at our table loved their food as well. The only criticisms I have are that they need to serve sweetened or flavored iced tea and I am totally against restaurants automatically including the tip with the bill. I do not believe that is right. A tip is a voluntary thing for a customer to give based on the service they received. There is nothing posted suggesting tips are forced and this is one of the reasons we refuse to eat at one of the other locations down the road. We did have a table of 7 (2 of which were toddlers so I don't think we should have had the tip forced on our check. My dad had left a few bucks tip and our server said to take it back because it was already on his check. His amount happened to be what he planned on leaving her anyway but that is not the point. We were very pleased with our service and the food and the whole experience so I did add an additional amount to the tip that had already been charged to me because I think our server deserved more. BUT the tip should be left up to the customers to choose. Even though we will not dine at a competitor down the street who also has the auto-tip policy, we WILL be back to this place because the service and the food...
Read moreDear 8 pound, 6 ounce Baby Jesus…. This is the ONLY place we will ever eat breakfast in again when we return to the Dells.
Even through they were extremely busy, we took a seat at the bar top, and were treated to not only impeccable service from a very friendly server, but we were able to help the staff celebrate “Aunt Christie’s” birthday as well! Everyone was very friendly and helpful. I honestly couldn’t believe how welcome everyone made us feel, all while continually serving each and every patron inside.
Oh, and before I forget… the food!!! This is how a breakfast should be prepared. Like grandma did. Not the grandma who set a bowl of fruit loops and a glass of milk in front of you, but your grandma Flo who was as good a cook as she was a mentor, listener, guru, hugging machine. Eggs cooked exactly as ordered. The best hash I’ve ever eaten outside of the home. Fluffy, perfectly cooked pancakes, and a mug of properly brewed, basic, no effing $12 whip creamed topped garbage you folks call coffee from a Starupchucks. Coffee. Strong. Black. COFFEE!
May whichever god you desire to worship always bless this establishment, because it’s by far breakfast...
Read moreMr. Pancake, another popular breakfast spot in the dells area was hugely crowded, as expected so we stopped into BJ's for pancakes. There was a short 20 min or so wait. Not too bad considering the morning crowd (Fri). They do tell you ahead of time and ask if you're still interested which was nice. We were seated, do happened near the kitchen door/entrance. The restaurant itself was loud, with the morning crowd. The menu was nice and concise so I expected greatness. The food was another 15 mins or so, about 3 coffees in. Again, morning crowd. When the food came, the plates looked pleasant. A bit light on eggs (scrambled) but the pancakes were delicious, even if they didn't look it. However the kids plates seemed a bit on the light side. See photo of Kid's French toast and fruit cup. But I suppose we could have been used to overly large portions. My sister made a comment on how the food could have used a tiny bit more seasoning. Overall, a decent place for typical breakfast food but beware of the loud crowd. Our waitress Michelle was pleasant and probably the push to give 4 stars instead of 3. Nice and basic style inside,...
