A friend and I dined at the Hollywood location on Saturday Sept 17th, 2022 @9:00pm. As we’re all still dealing with Covid-19 as a continuing health issue in California and throughout the country; this has to be the most unclean open-air restaurant I have Ever dined at.
We were there for approximately 2hrs and dined inside. Every table we selected to eat at was absolutely filthy. The tables were all sticky with old food and drink residue. We asked one of the cashiers if they could please wipe down a table. After 10mins of waiting someone reluctantly did. With a damp non-soapy old towel.
It was a very steady Saturday night so you’d think they’d be conscious enough to at least attempt to wipe tables and sweep floors after each diner left a table. During the hours we were there this never occurred once.
They literally still have old CA and CDC signs still posted on the door warning patrons that they must show a vaccination card to dine inside. And have they nerve to address their “cleaning” practices as well.
The had a security guard posted just outside the restaurant who walked around continuously passing gas just outside near our table, and regularly walked through the restaurant doing it as well. The smell was repulsive. We tried moving tables to be away from him, but every table was so dirty we reluctantly stayed put.
The bathroom was one of the worst smelling single use bathroom I have ever visited. There were hundreds of discarded dirty hand towels thrown everywhere. It was also never visited by an employee all night to even pretend to make an attempt at cleaning it.
There were several unfriendly cooks and cashiers working behind the counter wearing masks to take and expedite food orders, but no one ever addressed the dirty tables and floors; with the exception of one worker who filled a table’s napkin holder when asked.
Both my friend and I contracted a very serious strain of flu virus that next day after dining there. We were both out sick the entire week, missing work and canceling business trips.
After living in LA Al’s most 20 years and never having a Hollywood Fat Sal’s sandwich; this is an establishment I will never dine at...
Read moreDelicious and incredibly filling! We came over to Fat Sal's after finishing moving into a new place, and were exceptionally pleased to find subs and other food with giant portions to re-fill ourselves on!
It has two separate locations at the same site, one of them being for to-go/delivery orders only. The sit-down location was on the corner and had a nice open air interior and patio on the side. It was very clean, modern, and well-decorated inside of it. Spacious patio tables provided us with a great spot to relax and dig in!
You order up at the counter and then receive a buzzer to call you back when it's ready. We split the Italiano sub and the half portions more than filled up both of us - and we were definitely starving after moving in that day! We also got some of the mozzarella and gravy fries, which were a bit pricey but came with a huge tub of gravy and a giant container of the fries - which had tons of cheese doused all over it! They were the perfect accompaniment to the sub and left us more than pleased. We were also able to get generously sized cups and ketchup and ranch to accompany the sandwich without an extra charge, something that's become increasingly rare these days. The Coca-Cola fountain machine was also well-stocked with a wide variety of sodas, all of which were very crisp tasting!
The order was ready in a relatively short amount of time, despite a decently large crowd at the time, and we quickly were able to dig-in and enjoy the meal! I definitely recommend Fat Sal's and can't wait to try more of their items on the menu, especially different...
Read moreI’m a regular at Fat Sals and come through with my friends almost every weekend. The place has a sports bar and nightclub vibe with a killer setup that should make it a go to nightlife spot, but it feels like completely wasted potential right now.
I’ve asked the staff a few times if they ever do special events like live music, karaoke, sports nights, or DJs, and every time the answer is no. They said they sometimes show UFC and boxing, so I pulled up recently for one of the UFC cards and the place was dead so I just left and went elsewhere. I asked if it ever gets busy for sports and they told me it only picks up around 2 or 3 in the morning when people leave the other bars and clubs nearby.
Apparently they are hoping it will change once the bar opens, but when I asked when that was happening, the staff had no clue. They said it keeps getting pushed. First it was next week, then two weeks, now they do not even know. The strangest part is they did throw a big DJ event not long ago, I saw it on their Instagram, but they have not done anything like it since.
The owner really needs to step up. This place has all the ingredients to be a great nightlife spot. The location, the vibe, and the space are all there, but there is no follow through. If they started doing regular events, promoting sports events, bringing in DJs or live performers, it could be the place people want to be at late at night. Right now, it just feels like a missed opportunity. Overall, the staff and food are...
