Hmm, it's tough to give a review like this , but I think an honest assessment of our experience at Levant is needed.
First of all, thank you Obi the Manager for taking care of us, your service to take care of what happened is exemplary. I wish I can say about your servers.
Now on to what happened. My friend is highly gluten-intolerant and allergic to the point that she can get bed-ridden. For our beef and chicken kebab plate, my friend asked if there's any wheat gluten, and our waitress mentioned the bugur has wheat while the rice doesn't.
So all seems like all is well, but when we got our plate and we started eating, she discovered that there is a flat bread underneath, which does have wheat. This really alarmed her and because of what can happen to her, she had to force herself to throw up. Yes, that's how bad her condition is.
To Obi's credit, he was overly gracious and apologetic (way more than our waitress), and he offered to have our dinner on the house.
Unfortunately, more things fell through the cracks with service, and for a quiet Sunday night, things like water refill came out slowly, and they forgot both the hummus and our dessert kenafeh.
It wasn't just our table since the table next to us also had a hard time getting the attention of our waitress who regularly had her back to the service floor.
Finally, by the time my friend got her kebab plate, she already lost her appetite.
We asked for the kenafeh dessert to be split in the to go box, and that's when my friend had to ask again if the kenafeh is gluten-free, and Obi wasn't sure, so he asked the other two waitresses. The one who was serving us shockingly said it's not gluten free, except when we first ordered at the beginning, she said it was gluten free, which is why we ordered it.
She denied saying that even though both of clearly remembered that when we asked about each dessert. Not only that, but she rolled her eyes at us right in front of the manager. And that's when we just had to leave because now this has turned into a shouting match.
It's one thing if someone doesn't know all the ingredients but of they are not sure about allergies, they should ask someone else.
Service is such a critical part of any dining experience, and Levant did not do great.
As for the food, it was alright. The babaganoush was probably the best thing, but the kebab was underseasoned, and for me, blandness is a...
Read moreThe server was horrible. I told her I can’t have gluten.. any wheat multiple times. She brought my plate out and as I was I was eating I noticed something I thought was paper.. that I was cutting and eating the chicken on top of… to realize it was actually a slice of pita bread. I asked her why this was on the plate because I told her I can’t eat wheat. She froze and I was so upset I told her I was going to the bathroom to throw up as much as I could because when I react I get in a lot of pain in my body where I’m ill for 4-5 days needing steroid meds/shot. Hummus was also asked for and forgot about at one point before the mess happened. The manager came out to cover the whole bill… he was very nice trying to accommodate, but to me it doesn’t fix the problem from me reacting to gluten. Then to make it worse the dessert that my friend ordered from the beginning, the server said there wasn’t wheat in a dessert we ordered. Not only did the server not know there was wheat in that but the manager also didn’t know and brought it out cut in half For us to split…. I asked again if there was wheat in it where they realize THERE IS WHEAT IN IT. Thank GOD I asked again and didn’t eat it…. The server tried to deny she said there was no wheat in it!!!!! Which is a LIE! She tried arguing with me on how she messed up, rolls her eyes, and walked away where I finally blew up. I had to walk away with my neck hurting from throwing up, no appetite, and stressed I’m going to react bad in a few hours when I have a shoot this Tues and Wed all day…… it will get so bad I end up w severe stomach and gut pain, nausea, severe nauseating migraines and inflammation so bad in my neck shoulders and my head that I go into the worst spasm with nothing helping but anti-inflammatories for days. It’s NEVER ok ever for servers to not know the menu well or for restaurants to not take for allergies/intolerances...
Read moreLevant Mediterranean Restaurant hands down one of the best spots I’ve ever been to in LA. The food was unreal, the service was beyond amazing, and I’m not exaggerating when I say this place left me speechless. They literally offered food for free just to make sure we had the best experience. That kind of hospitality is rare. I’ve been to Turkey multiple times, and this place gave me that same authentic, fresh, flavorful vibe maybe even better. You can taste the love in every single dish. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted so kindly, seated quickly, and taken care of the entire time. The meats were juicy and perfectly seasoned, the rice was soft and full of flavor, and the sides? Absolutely insane. The hummus was probably the smoothest I’ve ever had. Every plate came out looking like a piece of art — but it wasn’t just for show. It tasted even better than it looked. And let’s talk customer service they genuinely care. Not just fake smiles and basic stuff. They made sure we were full, happy, and even brought us extra dishes just to try. Who does that? That’s love. That’s passion. That’s the kind of energy that makes a place unforgettable. The vibe inside is cozy but still elevated. Clean, calm, and really aesthetic without trying too hard. Whether you’re pulling up with family or on a cute dinner date, this spot hits every time. More people need to know about Levant. I’d give it 10 stars if I could. If you’re in LA and haven’t been here yet, you’re missing out big time. Go. Like now.
We literally ate everything and made sure to bring...
