Wow! Seriously! Never had Thai food that tasted this good!!! If you’re into trying a home-cooked style, hardcore Thai food — something other than pad thai— give this place a tryyyy!!! You will see all kinds of “exotic” dishes you wouldn’t see in most Thai food restaurants. I really love the fact that they present a variety of Thai dishes and I want to try ALL OF THEMMMM!
We got a catfish dish and a garlic pepper chicken dish. At first the portions looked small, but they were actually just right amount (the prices were reasonable also). They were both super well-seasoned and not overly sweet like in many Thai restaurants. For the cat fish dish, the crispy tender fish smothered in spicy and salty sauce with the fresh basil fragrance was just perfection.
Theres minimum $12 (or $10..?) for credit card which is not bad.
Their service was so good, friendly and welcoming. I felt like we walked into an old-standing mom and pop restaurant and they were very happy to answer questions and to make suggestions. That’s when you know they put heart into their food and they take pride in them :)
Can’t wait to visit this...
Read more4.5 stars average are you kidding me? I just had thai food here in March 2022 and my goodness it was disgusting. I do have high thai food standards and I don't expect much when a place has $10 entrees, but the thai food here was simply inedible.
I got two entrees, tom kha soup and pineapple fried rice. Tom kha is supposed to be hot and sour soup, there's coconut milk in it, so its supposed to be savory. This tom kha was so sour, it was not savory at all, it's almost like you couldn't taste any of the coconut milk in it. The ingredients this place uses are SO CHEAP. There was chicken in the soup, and the chicken was extra chewy, tasted old, tasted awful the chicken.
I'm almost certain they used pineapple out of a can to put in the fried rice. Look at my photo, the ingredients look liked canned food! If i wanted canned food I could go to the grocery store.
I would not order the anything with chicken here, it is sketchy the chicken they use. With all the good thai food in LA, this place is very very...

Parking: It's Hollywood. I think I found an okay spot nearby, south of Hollywood Blvd.
Service: Nothing memorable, but I say that as a term of flattery. Sometimes when you don't notice the service, that's good service. Such is the case here.
Food: I got my go-to, the pad see ew, baby! It was good, especially for the price, which is pretty far below the average. It did the trick and more, but it wasn't mind-blowing. But much like the service, it doesn't need to be mind-blowing.
Ambiance: No-frills. It's not pretty but it's not ugly. I know the middle-of-the-road mentality of this review might make Pailin Thai seem, well, middle-of-the-road, but if you wanted fancy $15 Thai food, you'd know to go elsewhere, wouldn't you? I came here to have an inexpensive lunch, so the decor only matches that inexpensiveness.
Overall: I'd go back here again if i'm in the area and hankering for that sweet, savory pad see ew. Ooh...
