Kihei Caffe took me by surprise in a big way. It’s on the property of the Maui Coast Hotel and I didn’t realize this was one of several locations. This particular location has a small group of hard working and friendly people dishing out some incredible food. During our trip, we ate here for breakfast several times and missed it after we left Maui. Everything was well executed and consistent between several visits. They have fresh squeezed juices and this was my first time trying POG juice and I absolutely loved it. A winning combination through and through. We tried the malasadas which were perfectly fried and still fluffy. The massive cinnamon roll was no joke, perfectly balanced with and a requirement as far as I’m concerned. The Breakfast burrito has a nice warmed tortilla and is filled with eggs and potatoes and it was fresh and tasty. I loved the spicy guac they give you on the side. I loved the loco moco with kalua pork over fried rice. The egg was a perfect sunny side up and was delicious when mixed with the rice. It was well seasoned and a wonderful combination. The surfer dude sandwich was a smashing success between the brioche roll, bacon, egg, and cheese. One of the days I opted to do the waffle version of the breakfast sandwich and it did not disappoint.

Review for Kihei in Maui (Restaurant) The restaurant has some good points but also a few drawbacks. On the plus side, the food was solid, the place was well-organized, and the staff, particularly the coffee person and server, were very friendly. I ordered the bagel and lox, which tasted great, but I didn’t appreciate that I had to assemble it myself. The plate didn’t provide enough space, turning a simple task for the kitchen into a messy job for me. However, there are a few things that detracted from the experience. There are signs everywhere telling you what you can and can’t do, which made the place feel more like a child care center than a warm, welcoming restaurant. On top of that, they use a system where they yell out names the entire time, rather than using a buzzer or numbers, which got pretty annoying. And when you pay, they flip the cash machine around with an automatic tip option, so if you sign too quickly without adjusting it, you might tip more than you intended. Overall, decent food and service, but the atmosphere and small details definitely need some improvement.

We joked on our way out that we were surprised they didn’t make us wash our own plates. Order at counter, pour your own water, find your own a table and then have your conversation constantly interrupted by the barista screaming names out for people to leave their table to collect their own drink. The owners can’t be bothered to pick up some table numbers and have staff assign them to tabs so the runners can easily drop the food/drink goes a right table without ruining the ambience. Instead, the staff stand near the barista area and yell out names. After a while of no response from confused patrons, they then proceeded to walk around the place yelling names. Usually, I think of brunch as a great way to relax and recharge but this was just grating and anxiety inducing. Mac & banana pancakes were ... pancakes. Standard/average pancakes with some topping. Not bad but nothing to write home about. My mom liked how light & crispy her waffle was but not enough to go back to a place that hurt our ears & drained the life away.

We had breakfast here a couple of mornings while we stayed at the Maui Coast Hotel.

We enjoyed the food here, and appreciated the large selection of breakfast options. They have options ranging from simple things like oatmeal bowls and fresh fruit, to omelettes, pancakes, and even steak or pork chops with eggs. Breakfast is a good price for Maui, but is higher than what you'd pay on the mainland. It's important to note that it was more reasonable here than several other restaurants on the island.

I have mixed feelings about the service. The system of ordering the meal at the counter and then having the food delivered to your table seems efficient, but it also seems to generate a lot of confusion for guests and also the staff. It also feels that they are anxious to keep the line moving, and it shows as they don't have patience for questions. Also note that they don't tell you when you are ordering that you have to go pick up your drinks from a different counter. Be sure to get your drinks quickly as the staff that works that spot does not have much patience for them sitting there.

On our first visit, we had our meal delivered quite fast to our table after placing the order. The food was very good. The second day, the order took a while to be brought out because the restaurant was much more busy. Weirdly, they didn't bring both of our meals out together even though they were placed together, and the server that brought out the 2nd meal had to go table to table to ask who had ordered the dish. Food was very good on the second day as well.

Make sure you look at the menu before you get in line, and also make sure you check the 6-8 posted signs showing all the specials, changes, etc. while you walk into the restaurant so you are ready to order when you reach the counter.

The Kihei Cafe was clean. There is a decent amount of space and tables. There isn't much decoration. It is a little dark inside the space, but not so dark that you can't see. The furniture was comfortable and seemed to be well maintained. The open air area near the street had a nice breeze. The courtyard area has a very nice selection of beautiful plants. It's obvious that this space was originally a bar that has been re-purposed into a restaurant. It would probably work much better if they redesigned the space and removed the old bar.

The restrooms weren't in the best condition, but by far not the worst ones we've ever seen. They feel tired, like most bar restrooms. They were dark as well, but were clean and they could use a refresh. They are also not in a bad location, but were a little hard to locate as the signage was obscured by another sign.

Note that they do add a service fee to checks that are paid for by a credit card. This fee is posted...

My friends and I went to breakfast on 3/13/25. I had pancakes with coconut syrup and a cappuccino the food was good the coffee was passable. One friend had a breakfast roll and she said that it was okay nothing really special. Another friend ordered the Papaya Delight Bowl. We repeatedly had to ask for her order I was halfway through my pancake as was my friend with the breakfast roll when my other friends Papaya delight arrived. What came was oatmeal with fruit on top. My friend wasn't really paying attention and started to eat the food and then was stopped by a server or a manager who came and said that we did not pay for her breakfast. After further review of the bill we learned that she had ordered papaya delight and we indeed paid for the item. My friend forgot the name of the dish she ordered and after waiting so long, she accepted the delivered oatmeal. She was already about a third away into eating the oatmeal when the server returned to our table and took the oatmeal away from her and then gave her a papaya delight. The server then tried to collect more money from us saying that a delight cost more than the oatmeal. (Both items cost $10.95. ). I have never seen a server or a manager physically take something away from a patron and throw down another item in its place. It was a very unpleasant experience. The server was extremely rude at every point in the conversation. Needless to say we will...

My fiancé wanted to take me somewhere for breakfast. Plus since I’ve been to the other two before might as well try out a location I haven’t been to yet. Plus this breakfast outing came as a surprise date. Since I had an early morning dentist appointment this morning & didn’t really have anything else planned for today. However, since we both were hungry & ready to eat. He found us the perfect solution. Kihei Caffe.

After leaving Kahului we drove to Kihei. Pulling up, I enjoyed all the greenery in the parking lot & next to the building. Judging from the full parking lot I could tell they were going to be busy inside too. It wasn’t too bad either, the line started at the door but went pretty fast. Plus it just gave you a few extra minutes to go over the menu so you already knew what to order when it’s your turn.

I ordered the BST Bagel (Bagel, 3 pieces of Applewood bacon, spinach, avocado, tomato, and cream cheese.) & an iced chai tea latte. While he ordered a the Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs with an iced pog. Surprisingly our plates were dropped off at our table before our drinks were ready. Which was perfectly fine for me, I got to take some food pictures while George waited next to the drink station for our drinks.

Their food is definitely delicious & we both ate everything. So in the future I’d love to come back just to try something new. Any...
