Good
Food tasted good even if some of the pieces looked like they were cut a little off
Our waitress was kind
Bad
Small pieces!
I have a few big issues with our experience. First, our chief did not introduce himself. We had no idea who our chef was or when our 10 course was going to start. It was a very young guy and honestly we expected someone with more experience because when some young kid came out we thought it was a sous-chef. Not even well dressed or a welcome. we were never told why each piece of fish was chosen, we never had a conversation about the food selection at all and it just seemed very off. It’s the chefs house so we feel proper acknowledgment and welcome is a big part of the experience. It also would have been nice if they said thank you and bye but he literally just left once dessert was handed out, which btw was the weakest part of the food. That dessert was not better than something at whole foods a slice of a custard cake that was good but nothing that left us amazed.
The way the layout is set is so….. it feels like an odd representation of what I feel an Omakase is. Considering that’s what this place seems to be heavily focused on. We did not see any of the food be cut or prepared it was.. Big pass just for this alone the counter should not be higher than the prep table in my opinion.
Bathroom? I’ve seen better bathrooms at less expensive a places. It just looked cheap and unconsidered. Why am I “complaining l about the restroom? Because it’s part of the experience. I love washing my hands in a clean restroom that smells good.
First and only time for us here. It has that Miami culture stigma. Where the chief cared more for who recommended us instead of what we like to eat. There just wasn’t that culture experience it was just here’s your food and that’s it.
My date did note that she was the only Asian in the entire restaurant. Is that a bad thing? Idk it’s like going to eat Colombian food but everyone is American. We eat Sushi at various other places and the culture representation does seem to add to a way better experience. For the price? We’ve spent more at other places and will be more than happy to continue experiencing those locations.
Just to note that after seeing other reviews it made me feel cut short since our pieces did not...
Read moreMy recent visit to Mr. Omakase was an experience that showcased both the highs and lows of what an Omakase should offer. The restaurant's aesthetics were undoubtedly one of the highlights. The intimate size of the venue, coupled with thoughtfully designed lighting and artwork, created a serene atmosphere that set the stage for a memorable culinary journey. The standout dishes included a salad with an exceptional dressing and perfectly prepared octopus. The salmon and tuna were both melt-in-your-mouth delicious!
However, several aspects of the experience fell below expectations. The first was that the seating area was being cleaned and reset even though our reservation time had already begun, leaving us unable to settle in fully and savor the initial experience. Also, the interaction with the chef was minimal and the bar itself did not allow patrons to see how the food was prepared. I would have appreciated more guidance on how to fully enjoy the meal, such as where the fish was from and how "this bite" was to be experienced, which is often a crucial aspect of omakase dining.
The sensory experience was lacking, and the fish selection was underwhelming. The presentation did not meet the high standards I've come to expect from similar Omakase experiences. While Mr. Omakase offers a visually appealing setting and a few culinary highlights, it could benefit from more engaging service, better plans for a seating time to be sat, and a stronger focus on the sensory and educational aspects of the...
Read moreI recently dined at Mr. Omakase and while the experience was a mixed bag, I feel it’s worth sharing.
First, the positives: the nigiri was impressively fresh, with each piece showcasing the quality of the ingredients. If you’re a sushi lover, you’ll appreciate the attention to detail and the craftsmanship behind every bite.
However, the ambiance left much to be desired. The atmosphere was dull, almost lifeless, with music that made me feel like I was stuck in an elevator rather than enjoying a premium dining experience. It definitely detracted from the overall vibe.
Another major drawback is their lack of a phone number. This made planning difficult and left me with no way to ask questions ahead of time, which was frustrating.
Overall, Mr. Omakase is worth trying once if you’re curious about the sushi, but I wouldn’t consider returning. The ambiance and lack of communication options just don’t justify a...
