Spent one night in Nashville, at the hotel across the street, on my trip home from Texas back to Michigan. Arrived approximately 8:30 by myself with my service dog, doors closed at 10:00 p.m. I was seated in the front area where there were no other patrons, the one other couple was ready to leave. My service dog was placed on the floor in the corner beside my chair, and made no movement or sound until we were ready to leave. There were several tables seated in the other section. It took approximately 10-15 minutes for the server to come over to me to give me water and menu, although I had already decided what I was having. He did come to take my order fairly quickly. I could watch the kitchen area where the staff was coming and going and saw who I believe was my server standing there prior to coming over. Once my order was taken, food did come right away and it was absolutely delicious! When the server brought my food he said he would check on me in a few minutes. I had finished eating, though I could not finish the entire meal, and had been sitting there watching the server go in and out of the other seating area. I eventually put my napkin on the table and even pulled my card and wallet out and put on the table. I waited probably about 15 to 20 minutes once I was finished eating for him to come and give me my check. I was attempting to make eye contact with/get the attention of my server every time he went in and out of the other area.
I am not sure if this was because I had a service dog with me that I was seated separately from all of the other patrons in the restaurant, or if it just happened to be bad luck on my part. However I was seated directly in eye shot of where is staff came and went from the kitchen. My server entered the other area multiple times when he simply could have just looked over to see me and check on me. No other person, server or management, came to check on me, either. After a long day of driving I just wanted to go to sleep after...
Read moreIt's rare that I rate restaurants 1 star. I'm a pretty fair reviewer. My visit to Jaspers started out great, but went down hill fast.
Starting out, their flights are well priced with their multiple options and generous pours. The small market inside is adorable, and well priced. The host was also marvelous. I didn't have a chance to get his name, but he was spectacular.
Everything went downhill once we sat down at our table. The restaurant was fairly empty when we got there, and was still pretty empty when we left.
First the service from Alyssa was subpar. We were a decent sized table, but her attentiveness was at a 0 for our table, at times completely ignoring us after speaking to other tables right next to us. The times she came to our table were far and few between, making the long wait times for something as simple as additional chips for the, not so great tasting, queso kind of frustrating. I felt very, forgotten, by her. Requests made for some of the orders for our table were not executed to expectation, and there were uninformed additional charges for sauces, some that we didn't enjoy, on our tab. 50 cents a sauce isn't bad, but when the only option for ranch is a, not great for dipping, avocado ranch we were disappointed. I think the part about our visit that lead to my 1 star review, over a 3 star was Alyssa.
Requests for our food weren't fulfilled, and due to the long wait time for the food , and a beer taking 25 minutes to get to the table, being served after we finished eating, I feel she may have forgotten to put in the order, since the place was fairly empty.
Chicken sandwich. Excellent. Made better with the mango chili sauce, even if not executed as requested.
Queso, not great. Served to us luke warm.
I'm not one to try to find a manager, because I don't want anything taken off the bill. I just want others to know that you may not have a great service experience and specific requests may not be fulfilled...
Read moreI have never experienced such blatant racism at an establishment. My boyfriend and I are a young black couple, and we frequently visit Jasper's. The service is always okay, however today it was the complete opposite. It started when I ordered the "strawberry bliss" mock-tail. It was a $5 drink. It came out in a glass filled with ice to the BRIM. I would be over exaggerating if I said that I finished the drink with taking anything more than 3 sips. I asked our waitress Grayson if they did refills, she replied no and said that it was the "standard pour", however after being asked she couldn't quantify a standard pour. We felt completely ripped off, so we asked to speak with the manager, Jason. I want to start off by saying that it took him at least 10 minutes to even come out to address us....with an empty restaurant. When he finally came out, he seemed already annoyed before we had even addressed our concerns. We told Jason the same thing we told Grayson. He immediately said that it was the "standard pour", also couldn't explain how much the standard pour was, AND stated that he's not taking it off even though we never asked for a refund. He also said to my boyfriend "she clearly enjoyed it", in a very rude tone. We decided to pick our battles and to pay even though I had never felt so disrespected and judged before, because paying was not the issue. Lastly, my boyfriend's chicken tenders were BEYOND salty. He struggled to finish one of four tenders, and similarly we were not offered a refund or any type of replacement. After leaving, we immediately called to get the managers name, he answered , told us his name, and said "enjoy writing your review", and proceeded to hang up in our face mid sentence. We had not even told him who we were. We will NEVER come back here and you all lost a pair of loyal customers over a 5 dollar drink. In the future, I would try not to hire such blatant racist and...
