My boyfriend and I dined here on New Years Eve around 4:30-5:00. We waited 45 minutes for a table which was to be expected and had no problem with. We were seated in the bar and the waitress, who we later found out was a bartender, took our drink orders and we gave her our order for wings when she came back with our drinks. From the start, she seemed to be rushing us and this was later confirmed when we waited over 20 minutes for our wings (didn’t have a problem with because it’s a holiday and they were busy, we expected this) but our food came out in 5 minutes flat. We both ordered steak and salad and a side and our salads came out almost immediately and we hadn’t even made it half way through the wings. I figured this was really fast considering how long we waited for our appetizer. We still had three wings on the table and hadn’t touched our salads (this is a period of maybe 5-7 minutes) when our steaks arrived. I also forgot to note that when I ordered, I asked if mine could be done with the onion, peppers, mushroom topping to which she said she just wanted me to know it would be an up charge and I said that was perfectly fine. (Seems pretty common sense). I feel like this comment is only ever made when servers assume their guests can’t afford something, and I was taken aback by it. My boyfriend’s steak was basically still mooing it was so raw when he ordered medium rare and couldn’t eat the majority of the center. I ordered medium and mine was perfect. Yet here I am, maybe 30 minutes into the meal and EVERYTHING is on the table. I waited longer to be seated than I was allowed time to enjoy my meal. My water is empty, my waitress is checking on every other table except us. She passed by us several times and never stopped to ask if we needed anything. I had to ask another waiter to bring me bacon for my potato because mine didn’t have any, but my boyfriends did. By the time I finished my salad, my food was cold. I couldn’t even ask for my potato to be reheated because the waitress never came back. I think she just assumed we were young tourists and don’t tip so she didn’t pay us any attention, but I’ve worked in restaurants for 12 years and tip 30-40% CASH on my tab. To make matters even worse, it was actually my birthday.. When the waitress finally came back and asked if we wanted anything else, (as she was mid-stride into another room only her head visible from behind the wall) I just politely declined and asked for Togo boxes. My boyfriend however made it known that it was actually my birthday and asked if they did anything special, to which she said no, but I might be able to find something small for you. She came back with a giant slice of cake. Still not sure if this was a ploy to make amends, because at this point I could tell that she realized she most likely ruined our special occasion, or if they actually do this for birthdays. I was very upset that I took an entire COLD meal and the majority of my boyfriends steak home that we spent $92 on, that we couldn’t even enjoy because we are from Mobile, AL and were staying at a hotel that didn’t have a kitchen. Again, as I said, I have worked in restaurants for 12 years and I understand more than most patrons because I have been in her position and have had days where my service wasn’t up to par because I was so weeded, but I didn’t feel like this was the case. I honestly felt like the waitress gave one look at us, assumed we are young and don’t tip and intentionally didn’t give us good service. Not only that, but when we got our check, ALL of our dishes were still on the table. The server never once prebussed and that is a GIANT pet peeve of mine. This was our first of many trips to come to the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area, but I can assure you this was our first and last visit we will ever make to J.T. Hannah’s. I was so excited to try this place because of the excellent reviews and didn’t want to eat at a chain like Texas Roadhouse, but my experience was not a pleasant one. Especially on my birthday. I literally had better service at the...
Read moreIf I could give this excuse for a restaurant zero stars I would. When we entered the restaurant everything was fine we waited to be seated but that was to be expected on a Saturday night. We didn’t get seated for 25 minutes and then our waitress, Kerry, came over and got our drink orders. However we waited about 10 minutes to get our drinks which they were busy so ok whatever. When we ordered she was rude about specific things we wanted and cut us off while we were speaking. We then proceeded to wait over 30 minutes to even get our food. All this time our waitress was sitting at the table next to us becoming friends with other guests not even working. We asked for the one salad we ordered to come out with the food but it was ignored and the salad was brought early. After waiting for over 30 minutes for food the food we received wasn’t even hot or fresh. I sent back my French dip sandwich, the only thing I eat here, because it was cold and the meat was tough. Why did I have to wait so long for old food? I told the waitress I didn’t want a replacement and wanted my meal and drink (everything I ordered) to be taken off my bill. The waitress said no problem so I assumed she was taking off all of it and it was fine. We then also had to ask for a new salad since the one they brought out early was just sitting there getting hot. She replaced the salad but threw an attitude about it; rolling her eyes and slamming the food tray holder close. Everyone ate their food even though it wasn’t hot and some of it was missing things and we had to ask for sour cream that was supposed to come with the nachos. When the checks came out I was charged for my drink. I asked for everything to be taken off, including my drink. I had left with my aunt since she wasn’t feeling well. My family had to argue with the waitress about not paying for the drink. The waitress eventually took off the drink but then the manager, Becca, came over. She then asked what the problem was and said she would have made us pay for the drink since I drank it. I would have never had the drink if I had known my food would be unsafe to eat. The waitress was extremely condescending and rude during the whole encounter. She even went as far as to say that’s what you get when you come late. What type of attitude is that? HER restaurant served unsafe food that absolutely didn’t temp high enough to be safe to eat and it was tough and chewy. The baccon my mom received was undercooked which also didn’t temp safely so she didn’t eat it. The manager tried to say well it’s pre cooked food it doesn’t matter. When you throw food safety out the window and genuinely don’t care about your customers how can you even call yourself a restaurant. I hope corporate sees this and fixes the problem because causing people to get sick and arguing and being rude to customers is no way to run a restaurant. I know all of this because I’ve been a manager at a restaurant for over 5 years and have a degree in business management. I will never return to JT Hannah’s and will make sure everyone knows how horrible this...
Read moreAfter a cold day at Dollywood, we were ready for some warm food. We picked J T Hannah's because we had been there some years ago and it was pretty good. First I called to see what the wait was. The lady that answered said about 20 min. I asked for call ahead seating. She said I had to go on the website site. I went right to the website and wanted to do it but it said this restaurant is not taking online reservations right now.
When we got there I told them and the lady at the podium said she'd put us toward the top of the list. We waited about 10 minutes and they were ready to seat us. This lady took us to a table right next to the kitchen. Call us crazy but we don't want to be seated right next to the kitchen or bathroom. So, we asked if we could sit a couple tables over. A server said, well, there's no server for that table but go ahead and- I'll take care of y'all. We thanked her and sat down. I ordered a French Dip and side salad and my wife ordered a bowl of chili and a side salad. We got the food and right away wanted to see if we could get another dressing each. I got mashed potatoes as a side and there was no gravy or butter. Also there was a small cup of horseradish. I wanted to ask for some sour cream to mix the horseradish in. We waited and waited and waited to see our server. FINALLY, she came racing by and we stopped her and could barely get another salad dressing out of our mouth and she wanted to go, then I had to ask fast for some gravy. She said brown or white and ran off. I didn't even get to say hardly anything and she brought back 1 dressing and some gravy. I told my wife - well, ok! I guess that's it.
When I went to bite into my sandwich, I had to spit it out because the first bite of meat was a big mouth of grizzle. I almost got sick. But i went on and when I took the second bite, the meat was very tough. That was it. I didn't eat anymore. I was so disappointed. My wife’s chili was cold, but she still ate it because she was hungry. The blue cheese dressing is homemade and was DELICIOUS!!
Finally the server came by and said do you need anything else? I figured why say anything, so I said no. She took the plates and didn't say a word about the sandwich not eaten. I didn't say anything else. I just paid and we left.
So much for a relaxing warm evening with good food. You may say I should have said something. But - not in this situation. She obviously didn't care.
Too bad. We...
