I was born in Thailand and grew up eating a lot of Thai food. Don't eat at this place because it gives Thai food a bad name.
Service: Service was extremely slow and fragmented. My wife ordered food at two other restaurants and they arrived before the Thai Bird food. I told them I got food too and they said they forgot. Then, they gave me food extremely fast. How did they get food to me slowly? Miss my food order, and then end up getting me food quickly? Seems suspicious. It could've been microwaved leftover.
Food: I grew up with food stamp in the US. Eating oven baked chicken wings with chili sauce was our specialty. Meaning, we bought this food with our food stamp as a delicacy. Thai Bird charges uses more than five dollars per wing. If you buy it, you are a fool. You would do yourself better by air frying chicken wings from HEB and eating it with fish suace, some peppers, and cilantro or some herb.
This food is definitely a gimmick.
Atmosphere: Good atmosphere, but prepare to wait in line.
Conclusion: Don't buy from this place. It's a chain restaurant that's wetting its feet on the feet of excited San Antonians. If you want good chicken wings that us poor Thai people ate, just air fry some chicken wings and eat it with rice, cheap fish sauce...
Read moreJumping on the Thaibird bandwagon and went to check them out today. It did not disappoint! I expected it to take a while but the food came out quickly. The breading was crispy and flavorful and the chicken was moist. The fries were SO GOOD! I loved the dipping sauces but I couldn't tell you what was in them besides chili and cilantro. They also added a buffalo sauce, which was good. I ordered the 5 piece, but the chicken was so big that I had to ask for a to go box.
The owner was super nice and I told him about this group and how much we're all looking forward to what he has planned for the future. He wants to sell their breading mix, which I would love to try on some wings. And they're gonna have monthly specials so I mentioned I'd love to see a noodle dish of some sort.
They also threw in a fruit salad, which was really delicious! It was sweet and a little spicy.
Overall, great experience and great food. I can't...
Read moreI was SOO excited about this place was really looking forward to trying it.
Unfortunately their food was really disappointing.
The chicken tenders weren't more than half breaded so they fried up burned and chewy.
The flavor of the bits that were fully breaded was okay but way overdone..maybe the oil temp was off or something. The kale salad was alright but overdressed and not as craveable as I was expecting. I can't imagine that's how they was supposed to be-maybe I caught them at a bad time (Saturday afternoon at 3?!)
Looking at the pictures on their website I'm guessing I got a bad batch (took them togo and didn't start eating till I'd driven off or I'd have said something) but I don't see myself rushing back to spend another $25 to find out.
Go have the PokPok at Benji's Munch for a truly unique and delicious thai-ish fried...
